(By Shahid Anwar) A group of Muslim landlord in Village Chak 127/R.B., Behlolpur of Chak Jhumra, Faisalabad destroyed and desecrated the graves of Christians by tractor for cultivation and stopped them to bury the dead bodies in the graveyard. They ploughed the graveyard badly that even the coffin and bones of the dead bodies came up from the ground. The Christian community of the village submitted an application in local police station of Sahiyanwala for the registration of case against 10 landlords. The landlords started threatening them that if they didn’t stop legal proceedings they would not resided them in the village.
Mr. Mazhar-ul-Haq, the Station Head Officer (SHO) of concerned police station had not taken that matter into consideration and evading registering the case against them as the people of mafia had relations with influential people.
The said land of graveyard was belonged to Christians since last 100 years but due to less Christian population in the village; the land Mafia had possessed the land and started cultivation over there. The applicant Sanaullah Masih nominated Nasir Ahmad, Nazar, Zaib, Arsalan, Sadaam, Adnan Sarwar, Yaseen and Zahid Ahmad resident of the same village in the application for registration of case against them.
The Team of National Commission for Justice and Peace, Faisalabad visited the graveyard and collected the coffin and bones of dead bodies. The team of NCJP also had a meeting with Mr. Aftab Cheema (Regional Police Officer, Faisalabad) and Mr. Naseem Sadiq (District Coordination Officer, Faisalabad) for the redress of the grievance.
Now, Nasir Ahmad, one of the land mafia members filed a suit that the said land is already allocated to him. The next hearing in this case will be heard on 13th June 2011.
On the other hand Sanaullah Masih also filed a petition against the land grabbers for illegal encroachment and destroying and desecrating the graves. NCJP-Faisalabad is providing legal aid in this case.
