HYDERABAD: May 18, 2011. (By Abbas Kassar) Being fed up with wrong policies of PPP government headed by president Asif Zardari, Mian Nawaz Sharif at last visited long ignored Sindh and held meetings with heads of nationalist Sindhi party leaders by visiting their homes in Hyderabad on Tuesday and was assured of full support as allies of PML(N) against any movement he launches against the PPP government and also alliance for the forthcoming elections at Sindh level which is widely considered as political base of PPP. After severe criticism by Sindh branch of ML(N) for sidelining Sindh during last three years (mis) rule of PPP and being its friendly opposition, Mian Nawaz Sharif started his visit for two days of Sindh from Karachi on Monday and came down to Hyderabad political and cultural center of Sindh on Tuesday. He visited Palijo House where he inquired about health of ailing veteran nationalist politician and noted intellectual Rasool Bux Palijo and held lengthy meeting with him helped by Awami Tehrik president advocate Ayaz Latif Palijo. He also held a meeting with Dr. Qadir Magsi chairman of Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party and addressed news conference along with Dr. Magsi. Sources said that Nawaz Sharif wanted to take Sindhi nationalists on board for forthcoming elections, adjustment for which was discussed. Nawaz Sharif told press conference that he shares the views and agenda of nationalist parties of Sindh. He supported demand of nationalist parties that the Jagridars in PPP who inundated more than half of Sindh during last year's floods must be brought to book as they had drowned Sindh and made its 7 million peoples homeless only to save their Jagirs. Mian Nawaz Sharif said, “their agenda is the same as that of ours—nationalism is a good thing. They also talk of riddance, justice and rights and we also say so. He said it is our desire that an enquiry be made into the breaching of the embankments for saving their lands during the floods and it should be dug out who the culprits are.” He said that the resolution on the drone attacks be implemented. AT Prsident Ayaz Palijo said that he was thankful to Nawaz Sharif for giving importance to issues like breaching of the embankments, target killings in Karachi etc. Earlier Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif said in Karachi on Monday that Pakistan was heading towards doom; no one including the army or elite is above the state. “Before any one else suspends our aid we should ourselves decide not to take anymore of it,” he asserted while talking to media after visiting Mazar-e-Quaid. He said the aim of building Pakistan was not to trade its sovereignty and honor. The incumbent government, Nawaz Sharif maintained, was incapable of overcoming serious problems like poverty, unemployment and energy crisis. To a question, he said the passport of Raymond Davis was still lying with the Punjab Government and that the ISI Chief Lt Gen Shuja Pasha had already told the joint session of the parliament that the twin killer of Pakistani nationals had been released on the orders of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani. Earlier, in his brief talk to media men at Karachi airport upon his arrival from Lahore, the PML-N Chief said he had come to the metropolis after a very long time and that he was glad to be here. Later, Nawaz Sharif reached his hotel where his party workers turned up in a large number which prompted a bit of a disorder, leading to the breaking of the hotel’s glass door. Chairing a meeting of the workers, Nawaz Sharif said right from the first day of the present government he had been standing by for protecting democracy and country, but not anymore. “Now the Constitution and the institution upholding its rule would have to come forward to play their role,” he stressed. Muslim League Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif told joint press conference with Dr. Magsi that all those judge and generals, who had collaborated with Musharraf are traitors and added not only the Generals, but the judges also would be herded to the docks. He said that the political principles were run down and an alliance was made with the ‘Qatil League’. “When would the principled politics emerge, today the political principles were rubbished, where to this politics taking Pakistan, we will fight out this dirty politics,” he vowed. He said, “Pakistan’s economy and sovereignty are at stake. It is over sixty years we haven’t left stretching our hand, we will not allow the sell out of the sovereignty of Pakistan.” He said that in both of his power stints ended before completion of the term, first by the president and secondly by the general. Musharraf terminated the government and made me hijacker. He further said that if he would have been allowed to rule for the ten years terms, then Pakistan today would have been on the way to progress. Musharraf and Zardari had the hands in making him ineligible, the government was at odds with every organizations including the judiciary—had also taken a fight with the Punjab government—Governor ‘Raj’ was imposed and even today the constitution and the law were run down, he recollected. Nawaz vowed to fight this dirty politics.
