LARKANA: May 12, 2011. (Nazir Siyal) The Larkana inhabitants of 40 burnt huts breathing in open sky and took out protest demonstration blocked the National Highway Road at Sheikh Zaid Bin Sultan Colony here on Wednesday morning.
A large number of women, children and men, the residents of 40 burnt huts have alleged district government for celebrating once Bakhtawar Festival and musical show/program in Naudero after millions of expenditures in Mega Festival Larkana.
They told that district government has not enquired after the burnt of millions of gold, ornaments and other valuables and they are now in open sky, the neighbourers are supporting and providing them food and clothes, but the present government and their representatives have not asked for any help, so that they have appealed philanthropists to help them for their survival.
The protesters/dwellers of the area told that the district government and police had threatened few days back to vacate plot immediately other wise government will take strict action against them, but after few days incident have been taken place.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here that the fire mysteriously was erupted, resulting 40 Huts were reduced to ashes on Tuesday evening here at old Shaikh Zaid colony Larkana.
After the incident, fire fighting department failed to reach on the spot in time to control the fire in Larkana city due to the negligence all the huts and valuables were burnt on the occasion.
Later, the men and women along with children staged sit in at the site near Lab-e-Mehran Larkana and pelted stones on late comer fire brigade vehicle and chanted slogans against the district administration Larkana for its apathy.
The poor peoples of burnt 40 huts told that all valuables, dowries of their daughters along with house and hopes have been burnt.
On the occasion enraged men, women and their children blocked road and staged protest against the district administration and called for the compensation of their loss.
While talking to media men Rashid, Ahmed, Riaz Ahmed, Nazar, Seengar, Pir Bux, Rashid, Muhammad Ramzan and others told that the District Coordination Officer Larkana has arranged Festival and musical programs in Naudero and he is busy never looked them, so that they have appealed President of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief Minister Sindh and other higher authorities to take the notice of incident and constitute an impartial enquiry into the matter.
