Karachi: May 4, 2011. (PCP) Pakistan Christian Congress PCC Central Secretariat here today issued statement of PCC Chief Dr. Nazir S Bhatti to condemn appointment of a Muslim as Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs in Pakistan. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that Pakistan Peoples Party PPP government have undermined great sacrifice of Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti, selected by PPP as Member of National Assembly of Pakistan and appointed as Federal Minister for Minorities, who was gunned down by Punjab Talaban on March 2nd in Islamabad. PPP government entered in an agreement with Pakistan Muslim League PML(Q) and distributed Federal Minority Ministry to PML(Q) Muslim member of parliament as Federal Minister for Minorities and a Christian selected member of NA from PML(Q) as State Minister for Minorities. PPP government have promised Dr. Paul Bhatti to replace Martyr shahbaz Bhatti and appointed him as advisor to Prime Minister on Minority Affairs but after appointment of a Muslim as Federal Minister for Minorities, the powers of Dr. Paul Bhatti as advisor have been very limited and he will not be able to pursue agenda of Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti. After appointment of Muslim as Federal Minister for Minorities affairs in government of Pakistan, Akram Masih as State Minister and Dr. Paul Bhatti as Advisor to PM on minority affairs will not be independent to function but will follow direction of Muslim Federal Minister. PML(Q) is against repeal or amendment in blasphemy law and PML(Q) staged demonstration when Salman Taseer, Governor of Punjab, who was shot dead by his body guard in Islamabad, was complaining for release of Asia Bibi, a Christian mother, sentenced to death on blasphemy accusations in Punjab. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said “ appointment of a Muslim as Federal Minority Minister is un-acceptable to 20 million Pakistani Christians and shameful for PPP government to undermine assassination of her PPP member Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti”
