HYDERABAD: May 1, 2011. (By Sameer Nazir Siyal) The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the PPP government is planning for the socio-economic development of deserted areas of Tharparkar and brings them at the par of developed area of rest of country. He made different announcements each for establishment of Cadet College at Mithi, a special package of Rs.one billion 75 crores for the installation of Reverse Osmoses Plants (ROP), and distribution of one lac acres land of evacuee property among the landless women farmers. This he announced while addressing a big public meeting at Mithi last night.
The Sindh Chief Minister said that about 1.5 to 1.6 million people were residing in the backward areas in desert, where they didn’t have any access to the standard education and fresh drinking water. He said that in addition to the efforts made by the government for reopening of closed schools, increasing the number of Degree Colleges, SSC & HSC schools, the facility of Cadet College at Mithi with huge investment of billions of rupees would be provided to facilitate to the students of this district with standard education at their door step. He said that the second largest problem being experienced by the people of Tharparkar district was lack of safe drinking water. He said that a scheme installation of 29 R.Os has already been completed while the work on other scheme for installation of additional 29 R.Os in Tharparkar district was in progress. He said that though this problem is also being experienced by other parts of the province but since the President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari was taking keen interest in the development of Tharparkar area as such he has directed for providing a special package of Rs.one billion, 75 crores for installation of more R.Os plants in the areas that still lacking sweet water facilities in Tharparkar district.
The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah also made another announcement for distribution of one lac acres land of evacuee property among the landless women in Thar with free of cost. He said that 25 acres land would be given to each landless woman farmer under this scheme. He said that legislation in this regard would soon be made to implement on the programme.
The Sindh Chief Minister said that unemployment was another problem that is hit the people of desert area. He said that Shaheed Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto keeping in view this problem had launched Thar Coal Project but the opponents later on reversed the step. He said that now we again have launched the project and hopefully it will not only provide the job opportunities to the local people but also meet out the energy shortage in the country. He estimated and said that a project having capacity to generate 1000 KV can provide job opportunities for 60,000 youths. He said that many foreign countries have expressed interest for their investment in the project and added that the day was not far when people of Thar will not search for their livelihood outside their area. The Sindh Chief Minister said that in addition to that we have provided jobs to the 60,000 youths during last three years and added that more jobs would be provided in future. He said that the scheme of pacca roads upto 200 Km has been completed while a mega project for construction of major hospital in Mithi with the cost of Rs.60 crores was being implemented.
The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah who was also the President of PPP Sindh Chapter, said that those who were hatching conspiracies to divide PPP would be divided themselves. He said that poor people of Pakistan generally and people of Sindh particularly had remained with PPP, are with PPP and would be intact with PPP as his party always has given sacrifices of its leaders, workers for the cause of common people. He said that in past the dictators have pitched many so called leaders to divide the PPP but all were washed out in the wave of the masses.
The Sindh Chief Minister said that the case of Shaheed Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto would be completed and assassinators would be taken to justice and he made it clear that PPP has taken the case of judicial murder of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in the apex court to make the history correct and unveil those who indulged in judicial murder of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
The Senior Sindh Minister Pir Mazharul Haq in his speech announced for establishment of Boys Degree College at Chhachro and Nagarparkar and upgradation of Girls High School Nagarpar upto Higher Secondary School. He also announced for reopening of closed schools and stressed upon the public representatives of Tharparkar for patronizing and supervising the schools’ activities.
The Sindh Minister for Information Mr. Sharjeel Inam Memon, in his address said that District Tharparkar was the stronghold of PPP and expressed his optimism that during next election PPP will sweep all seats with the support of masses. He said that in past some opponents of PPP made wrong entries in the polling lists with facility of dictators and won the seats with riggings methods. He said that those who claim themselves as the sympathetic of the people of this area, had victimized poor people while remaining in power. He said that it was because of that those don’t dare to come here to face the people. He said that the development works made during last 3 years, had not been done in past many decades in Tharparkar district. Criticizing over the statement made by Shahbaz Sharif for creating new province in Sindh, the Sindh Minister for Information Mr. Sharjeel Inam Memon made it clear that till a little child of Sindh is alive, no one can dare to divide Sindh into pieces. He also criticized over a leader styling himself as a nationalist and said that by his statement he was reflecting himself as selfish rather than nationalist. He said that it was the PPP which was representing and serving to the people of Pakistan and especially of Sindh in real sense. He said that today, people are well aware and knows the selfish leaders very well.
The Sindh Minister Agha Siraj Durani, Advisor to C.M. Aijaz Dhamrah, MNA Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Senator Gul Muhammad Lot and other also addressed the public meeting and said that the PPP government was implementing the mission of Muhtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto under the dynamic leadership of co-chairman PPP and President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari. They were of the view that PPP would not only complete its five years tenure and continue to serve the people but also would be supported by the poor people of Pakistan in any political move in future.
