Hyderabad: April 13, 2011. (PCP) On Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Press Club Hyderabad-Sindh, Members of Society for Human Awareness, Development & Empowerment (SHADE) Hyderabad and All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA), Hyderabad Pakistani and Christian people from all walks of life, gathered to pay tribute to slain Minorities Minister and Christian hero, Shahbaz Bhatti.
People were saying, “Shahbaz, your sacrifice will not be in vain,” and they also demanded the arrest of his killers.
Shahbaz Bhatti, the only Christian in the country’s cabinet, was Pakistan ’s first Federal Minister for Minorities from 2008 until he was brutally gunned down by unknown assassins in Islamabad on March 2, 2011.
Christian Leaders including Rev: Bishop Younis Gul, Rufin Wilson, Sooba Bhatti Director SHADE, Riaz Nazir, M. Parkash, prayed and demanded to arrest his killer.
During their addresses, all of the people, paid tribute to former Mr. Shahbaz Bhatti and they saluted his services to "uphold interfaith peace, love, harmony and tolerance," and his "untiring efforts" to repeal the black blasphemy laws 295 A, B,C .
All Christian demanded that the Government and all political parties “should announce a policy to eradicate the militancy deeply rooted in the Pakistani society.” They also vowed “to put all their efforts” in quashing the blasphemy and other discriminatory laws.
