Faisalabad: April 04, 2011.(PCP) Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) urged to Government the full fledges security of Mr. Joseph Francis, Director for CLAAS (Center for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement).
The CLAAS under the leadership of Mr. Joseph Francis provides the legal aid assistance to the people who are persecuted because of their religion. It is an organization that starts to unite the Christian Lawyers at a platform to assist the cases of blasphemy laws in specific. Before 1992 the Christian Lawyers were afraid to take these kinds of cases.
Mr. Joseph Francis is also a highly profiled Christian political leader as he is a Chairman of Christian National Party. His political services for the minorities are unforgettable. He has challenged the constitution of Pakistan for the job of President with out the discrimination of religion. He has refused the reserve seats for the minorities and demands to political parties to issue the party tickets to minority leaders like the Muslim politicians for participation in general elections. His tireless struggle for the minorities is marvelous. After the assassination of Mr. Shahbaz Bhatti ( federal minister for minorities affairs ) he can be a next target of Talibans and extremists. The Government must ensure his full proof security.
The HRFP and CLAAS shares the same vision for the Christians concerned human rights. Both organizations are working on the same cause for the minorities equal & human rights. Naveed Walter President of HRFP strongly requests the people of the world and like minded friends, human rights activists and international community to keep praying for the life security of Mr. Joseph Francis and pray for his work that he has initiated in Pakistan for the minorities and marginalized communities of Pakistan .The Government must take notice of threats he is receiving before the Christian community looses this great leader.
Naveed Walter said, we strongly condemn the death threats to Christian leaders and we are not afraid as I also got the threats from unknown people during the campaign for the total repeal of blasphemy laws, for the release of Asia bibi and now in recent demonstrations after the assassination of Mr. Shahbaz Bhatti (federal minister for minorities affairs). He said, we are committed to continue our peaceful struggle for any cost, till the fully religious freedom prevails in Pakistan, He added more.
