Islamabad: April 1, 2011. (PCP) Julius Salik, Convener of World Minorities Alliance issued this statement in press conference here today at Islamabad Press Club. “I want to bring your concern towards an important topic of Terry Jones. As the voice of all the nations condemning the cause in different ways have already reached to the secretary of United Nation so the Maximum responsibility lies on United Nations and therefore its my appeal to the United Nations that by recognizing the sensitivity of the issue to fix a day to promote religious harmony and tolerance and add it as a subject in the syllabus the world. The incident of desecration of holy Quran by a so called priest in Florida as commensurate to ‘blacken the face’ of the Humanity and had planned a conspiracy to destroy the peace of minorities all over the world, because all the religions are known for their forbearance and tolerance, that is why I deem it essential to appeal to the UN to urgently fix a day to mark the tolerance. UN should issue an international convention against disrespect of any religion of the world”
“The crux of the message of Jesus Christ is the peace and love, therefore no Christian could tolerate an act of the kind. I feel that this is the responsibility of the world powers especially the United States to collectively condemn this act of desecration of holy Quran. I demand the US President to order hoisting the US flag at half mast as a mark of regrets and sorrow on this act of shame and this is the moral responsibility of the US President being the most powerful leader in the world to help promote religious harmony. Similarly the government of Pakistan should also do the same and after flying Pakistan’s flag at half mast should appeal to the world to follow the suit to express their solidarity with all the faiths and religions. I also urge the top government functionaries to knot black-tie till April 21 to mark their grief on the said act and the Christian community and all those who believed in religious harmony would hoist black flags at their roof tops till April 21 to express their grief and dejection on the said act, especially in Islamabad. On 7 April 2011, I will lead a delegation to the local UN office to present a memorandum listing the demands for the religious harmony and I will be accompanied by the children dressed in black garments to present the said memorandum to the UN and the end I also appeal to all my Christian and Muslims brothers and sisters that at this point of time there is a need for religious unison and everybody should understand the conspiracy behind the act” said J Salik
