Karachi: March 7, 2011. (PCP) "Assassination of Shahbaz Bhatti is a personal tragedy, but also a terrible defeat for fundamental human rights, far beyond his own country."
"I urge the Pakistani government to honour the heroic fight of Shabaz Bhatti by pursuing all possible efforts for tolerance and the protection of all minorities." Said Anwar Lal Dean
I strongly condemns the assassination of Pakistan's Minorities Minister, Shahbaz Bhatti: mourn his death and I send my sincere condolences to his family and friends. My heart and thoughts are with them and with all those who show exemplary determination and courage by risking their life for religious freedom and tolerance.
After the forced death of Salman Taseer, the governor of the Punjab region, on 4 January, this is the second assassination in a row of a senior Pakistani official who tried to reform the country's blasphemy law.
I strongly condemn this attack on his life. The perpetrators of this cowardly act of brutality have to be brought to justice.
Pakistan Peoples Party Minority Wing (Karchi Division President -Sindh) and Special Assistant To Chief Minister Sindh ,Syed Qaim Ali Shah organized a candlelight vigil at the Chairing Cross on Sunday in honour of assassinated federal minorities minister Shahbaz Bhatti. Protesters, including Christians held banners, condemning the cold-blooded murder and flayed the federal government’s incompetence in protecting its ministers and minorities. They condemned the politically-motivated murder and said that Bhatti’s death was an irreparable loss to the people of his constituency, especially Christians.
“We believe his sacrifice will have a profound effect on this entire struggle for human rights. We are indebted to his services for Christians,” protesters said. I do request the federal government bring the killers to justice and establish the writ of law. They said that the government’s policy of appeasement and exposing the most vulnerable brackets of society including minorities, women and workers to danger was not right.
Former Minister Shahbaz Bhatti belonged to village near Fasialabad and his sacrifice refreshed the memory of late Bishop John Joseph, who also belonged to this village, they said. The protesters said that they honour the sons of the soil who have given their lives to save others.
He was a great loss for the Pakistan Peoples Party and Christians. He was very dedicated and committed party worker and through gentle man.
I ,Anwer Lal Dean ,Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sind , salute his services towards Humanity, interfaith harmony and for Pakistan Peoples Party.
