(By Albert Patras) Christian Lawyer Foundation Pakistan (CLFP) is a name of Struggle of decades for the achievement of equal rights, social harmony, restoration of democracy, protection of human rights, supremacy of Constitutions, independence of Judiciary, Sovereignty of parliament and rights of women and religious minorities. CLF Pakistan is founded by Mr. Khalid Gill (Lahore) who conceived the idea after the brutal murder of Shazia a Christian Maid. After the murder of Shazia case he conceieved the idea (Who will advocate the Advocates), it was the need of time to form Christian Lawyer’s Foundation Pakistan., became the founder of CLF Pakistan and the lawyers at foundation honored him to be the chairman of said foundation.
Society for the Empowerment of the People (SEP) is a non profit, non government and non partisan organization striving for development of the marginalized communities and women of District Vehari Pakistan without any discrimination of caste, creed and faith. The organization came into being in January 1996 and is registered under Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control Ordinance, 1961 (XLVI of 1961) since May 1996. SEP drawing its strength from communities' active involvement in needs driven development process through a participatory development initiative.

Proceeding:
On 13th February 2011. SEP hosted the first ever conference of CLFP. The meeting took place in the conference room of SEP office Vehari. Nearly 40 people were around to witness the conference. The participants were Lawyers in practice, Law Graduates, Law Students, SEP staff, the Local press reporters, the local Councilors, Christian Youth, The meeting began with the prayer Mr. P L Nasir, and blessing by Rev. Fr. Riaz Gosal and Holy Bible Reading by Mr. Iftikhar Jalal SEP staff.
The prayer led to the introduction ceremony which was led by Madam Rani Barkat (the Vice chairman of CLFP and the president of SEP). She asked all the participants to stand on their feet and hold to the chord and introduce themselves, and then pass on the chord to others in front of them. All the participants did exactly the same, the purpose of this excerice was to tell that all the participants were knit together in a network which should keep people attached to it tied and motivated.
The meeting was attended by the lawyers from Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Multan, Lahore, Vehari, Yazman Mandi, Layyah, Mian Channu.
Rev. Fr. Riaz announced that the Catholic Diocese of Multan will award scholarship to law students. The other speakers were Mr. Azhar (General Secretary CLFP), Mr. Lazar Alah Rakha, (advocate from Bahawalpur), Mr. P. L Nasir (Advocate fro Khanewal), A.D Sahil (Law Graduate from Mian Channu), Mr. Javed Raymond (Advocate from Bahwalpur), and Mr. Albert Patras (Executive Director SEP) addressed the august gathering.
The conference ended with the collective resolution that all the lawyers will and the participants will work for the uplift of the depressed community in Pakistan regardless of age, sex, religion. Mr. Albert shared that CLFP and SEP will work in close collaboration in future. SEP plans to develop a Christian lawyers directory for the lawyers of south Punjab. The other thematic areas would be the legal consultancy of lawyers for the project Violence against women in the south Punjab. All the participants appreciated these suggestions.
