Lahore: January 7, 2011. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have expressed grave concern on threatening statements of Islamic leaders to pressurize courts and dictations to follow Sharia law in case of accused Mumtaz Qadri. Nazir Bhatti clarified that formation of Pakistan was not for Muslims only but Christian played very positive role in Pakistan Movement while Jamaat Islami Hind and other Islamic groups campaigned against Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and partition of sub-continent of India. The first two constitutions of Pakistan of 1956 and 1966 were not constitutions of Islamic Republic of Pakistan but “Constitution of Pakistan” The Federal Shariat Courts and Islamic Ideology Council were established under constitution of “Islamic Republic of Pakistan of 1973” and elements which waged campaign against independence of Pakistan are attempting to change ideology of Pakistan on pretext to Objective Resolution. The Christians are son of soil and any conspiracy to push them out of Pakistan will never be successful because they have valid claim on resources of land said Nazir Bhatti “I am surprised that Islamic clerics refused to offer funeral services of Salman Taseer who was gunned down by his body guard on duty for which he was being hired on payment” added Nazir Bhatti Pakistan Christian Congress PCC pays homage to Governor Salman Taseer on his services for persecuted Christians and to call for dialogue on blasphemy law. “PCC have concern about safety of life of Asia Bibi in jail and it is responsibility of Punjab government to adopt necessary measures for her safety’ Said Nazir Bhatti Nazir Bhatti said that every Article or Section in Constitution of 1973 of Islamic Republic of Pakistan can be brought for interpretations, revision or repeal under Article 199 of constitution by any citizen of Pakistan before higher courts of Pakistan and if any group plans to snatch this right on gunpoint, then, we will appeal Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan to call for Armed Forces intervention to uphold sanctity of Constitution. Nazir Bhatti said that protests and statements of Muslim groups have put Lahore High Court under pressure and appeal of Asia Bibi is delayed for hearing in LHC. We appeal Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan to take SUO_MOTTO notice on case of Asia Bibi, who is sentenced to death on accusation of blasphemy.
