WASHINGTON, DC: January 3, 2011. (PCP) The board members of the American Friends of Balochistan are pleased to inform the Baloch Diaspora that the A.F.B. has dedicated 2011 as the Year of Baloch Unity, a press release issued by the pro-independence organization said Monday. The A.F.B. drive will be focused on achieving consensus on the the Balochistan Freedom Charter, drafted by human rights activist Peter Tatchell. During this whole year, the A.F.B. said it is going to doggedly pursue the idea of unity among the main Baloch stakeholders in Balochistan politics on the Balochistan Freedom Charter. In A.F.B.'s considered opinion the key stakeholders in Balochistan are the Dejure Ruler of Balochistan Khan of Kalat Suleman Daud, Balochistan independence leaders Mir Hyrbyair Marri, Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti and Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch, Balochistan National Party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, National Party chief Senator Malik Baloch and Balochistan National Movement chairman Khalil Baloch. Henceforth these leaders will be referred to as the Baloch Seven. Tatchell's Balochistan Freedom Carter has been launched at a time that the U.S. has become totally frustrated with the Pakistan military deceptions and feet dragging on actions against al Qaeda, the U.S. and India are gradually closing ranks on how to achieve the goal of stability in the AfPak region and Israel voicing concern over the threats emananting from Pakistan and Iran's nuclear weapons program. "We appeal to Baloch veteran leaders Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, Sardar Ataullah Mengal, Sardar Sherbaz Mazari, Dr. Abdul Hye Baloch, Mir Abdul Nabi Bangulzai, Ismail Ameeri, Jumma Khan Baloch and Saeed Ameeri to guide the "Baloch Seven" and help them reach a consensus," the A.F.B. said. A key role has to be played by intellectuals and activists such as Abdullah Jan Jamaldini, Prof. Sabir Badalakhan, Prof. Bahadur Khan Bangulzai, Hafeez Hassanabadi, Surat Khan Marri, Kachkol Ali Advocate, Samundar Askani, Akbar Barakzai, among others, to do their level best make 2011 a landmark year of Baloch unity. The "Baloch Seven", in consultation with their colleagues, are requested to come forward to give their viewpoint on the Balochistan Freedom Charter, a historic document that has been floated in London. The idea of Pakistan was also basically floated in London and it is a relief that an idea to undo it is also coming from London. The A.F.B notes that at least two honorable members of the "Baloch Seven" are in or around London, Khan of Kalat Suleman Daud and Mir Hyrbyair Marri. The A.F.B. requests the two honorable leaders to jointly pursue the House of Commons and House of Lords that it is high time the historic wrong that Whitehall inflicted on Balochistan must be undone. Marri and Khan of Kalat have no political understanding at this time. Side by side with unity among the "Baloch Seven" on the Balochistan Freedom Charter, at the regional level three countries have to be pursued to openly support the future democratic and secular state of Balochistan -- Afghanistan, Bangladesh and India. In a show of sincerity to the Baloch unity ideal, on New Year's eve two Baloch organizations in the U.S.A. namely the A.F.B. and the Baloch Society of North America decided to bury the hatchet. In spite of divergence in political perceptions, strategy and tactics, there is room to work jointly on a host of issues pertaining to independence of Balochistan. The two organizations decided to show respect to each other's leaders and refrain from abuse and attacks. They will undertake a number of events together in Washington DC. Over the years, Wahid Baloch, president of the Baloch Society of North America, has met key U.S. lawmakers to apprise them of the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan. "The blood of martyrs who perished in 2010 asks us to show responsibility and forgive each other now, or history will never forgive us," the A.F.B. said
