Flood effectees protest against non provision of relief goods in camps

LARKANA: December 22, 2010. (By Nazir Siyal) Hundreds flood affectees of deferent relief camps blocked Lahori Muhalla regulator chowk and staged sit in torched tires on roads in protest against non provision of ration, warm cloths, blankets and other relief items. On the occasion, protestors including Ahmed Ali Saluni, Mushtaque Hussin Chandio, Azam Balouch and others told media men that district administration and several NGO’s are claiming to provide relief goods and other facilities, but it is categorical drama and befooling the masses, they allegedly said that their little children are facing cold in winter season and but local administration and other NGO’s and INGO’s are reluctant to visit their camps, only paper work is being done they alleged. Protestors allegedly said that Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) Larkana officials are selling thousands metric tone, wheat, oil, fertilizer, seeds and other items, in local market through their hired commission agents. They further said Dari Police seized Truck No-CHE-3041) loaded with flood relief stuff and arrested three people including Driver Imdad Jatoi and two unknown near Atta-Turk tower on Tuesday night when truck was heading towards Airport road to sell hundreds bags of wheat, oil tins and other items to shopkeepers and other brokers which expose the corruption of said officials. They also told that the District Program Officer SRSO Saeed Buledi along with Zulfiqar Chajro and other officials are involved in the selling relief goods provided by Wrold Food Program (WFP) and other organizations by collusion of Taluka Mukhtiarkars and other officials and they have earned millions rupees during the relief work. Flood victims appealed to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief Minister Sindh, MNA Faryal Talpur to take notice of matter and provide relief to flood affectees take stern action against corrupt officials. Meanwhile, large number of vaccinators on protest call given by Vaccination Welfare Association district Larkana staged protest demonstration against concerned authorities of EPI on depriving 700 vaccinators from salaries and other rights here out side the EDO health office Larkana on Wednesday. On the occasion, chairman (VWA) Larkana Ali Akbar Sangi, President Deedar Ali Brohi, Ghulam Abbass, Karim Dino Junejo and others strongly condemned the concerned officials to harassing vaccinators by with holding salaries, they allegedly said National program managers have claimed fake bills of publication of awareness material worth hundred thousands but so far no awareness program has been arranged. They further said National Manager EPI program is misappropriating the funds and damaging the national program protestors appealed to higher authorities to remove allegedly corrupt officials and release with held the salaries otherwise they will extend protest circle.
