Mandi Bahauddin, Punjab: December 8, 2010. (By Gangly Khan) On the morning of 7th December, 2010 a clash took place between police and lawyers in Malikwal civil court premises right in front of the court of additional sessions judge and as result of this scuffle four lawyers and an equal number of police men were injured. As per story there was a dispute between one Saifullah advocate and his co villager over the possession of land. Litigation relating to the disputed land continues in the court of revenue member. The land is in possession of Saifullah and his co sharers. Status que issued by the court is in favor of Saifullah. Local police in order to favor the other party went to the land to dispossess Saifullah etc with force. Saufullah’s brother resisted his dispossession and police arrested him and supporters and brought them to Police Chowki Rerhka. Saifullah protested over this illegal action of the police. Police at late night let free his brother and his other colleagues. Next day Saifulla filed writ petition in the court of additional sessions judge Malikwal against his opponent party and police through an advocate. At the end of hearing, when advocate and SI Alyas came out of the court, SI Alyas passed some dirty comments on the advocate. The advocate asked the SI to stop such dirty comments over which The SI asked police party to teach the advocate a lesson. The police party got hold of advocated and hit him with rifle buts. Other advocates when came to disengage them, the police treated them similarly Seven lawyers received injuries; among them four were seriously injured. Police registered the case against the lawyers; five nominated in FIR and about twenty unknown. Lawyers as mark of protest have decided to boycott the courts on 8 Dec through out the district. Today lawyers also observed strike.
