Lahore: November 13, 2010. (PCP) Christian Lawyers Federation CLF Chairman Mr. Khalid Gill said that it was long standing demand of Pakistani Christians students to get subject of Christianity instead of Islamic Studies in syllabus but administration never gave due consideration on this important issue, so, CLF decided to challenge in higher courts.
On November 10, 2010, Justice Hamid-ur-Rehman of Lahore High Court heard the petition filed by Dr. Raja Nathaniel Gill Advocate and Merry Gill, team of CLF and pleaded by Rana Abdul Hammed advocate, Ex-Additional Advocate General and Advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The petitioner have prayed to honorable LHC to issue orders to Education Ministry to include Christian Religious Studies instead of Islamic Studies for non-Muslim students in syllabus.
The honorable Justice issued notices to Federal and Punjab ministries for next hearing.
