Holland: November 12, 2010. (PCP) Mr. Watson Gill, Pakistan Christian Congress PCC Coordinator for EU countries and Leader of Pakistani Dutch Christian Community Urdu Church said that decision to abolish Federal Minority Ministry is one more bad news for minorities that voice for minorities in Pakistan is going to be silent. The Pakistani government have announced some ministries including the ministry of minority affair will be transferred to the provinces at the end of this year, the Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh said to the media. The ministries will be abolished and shifted to provinces under the devolution process within the next few weeks. The ministries to be shifted to provinces under the 18th Amendment include Population Welfare, Youth Affairs, Local Bodies and Rural Development, Zakat and Usher, Special Initiatives, Culture and Tourism, Special Education, Social Welfare, Special Education and Minorities' Affairs. PCC leader said “This is injustice with minorities. This ministry was like a chain between the different religious communities. Specifically Christians are living in all provinces and this ministry is the only way to keep their collective struggle alive. This was the hope for raise their voice against injustice with them. This was the hope to fight for their rights” “Conspiracy continued makes a way against Christians to divide them in to provinces. This is very big disappointment for Christians in Pakistan. Poor and helpless minorities are ignored by the Pakistani Government, bureaucracy, civil society, judiciary and even Pakistani mainstream media . Our Pakistani Muslim brethren in Pakistan, USA or Europe they are ready to raise their voice for Kashmiri and Palestinians ,but why do the Muslim brothers are silent for their own Pakistani Christians brothers. Meanwhile, PCC Central Executive Council leader, Mr. Raymond Wallace Durrani, who is based in Canada, commenting on abolishment of Federal Minority Ministry said “Government of Pakistan (PPP) and Government of Punjab (PML-N) are struggling for control of Pakistan: Mr. Raymond added “PPP government has not only failed to protect interests of the largest minority, members of the Christian minority in Pakistan from the home grown Muslim Extremists and Terrorists but also has deprived them from earning decent living by educating illiterate people who yet have to learn the art of civilization” Mr. Durrani said “while presenting the bill in 1971 in the National Assembly the Interior Minister, Mulana Qusir Niazi said and I quote, “takeover their institutions and let them die their own death”. The late Prime Minister, Z. A. Bhutto then nationalized all the Christian Schools, Colleges and Hospitals to offset the loss of East Pakistan in 1971 which was his fault. He then addressed the nation of the remaining Pakistan, the Muslim Extremists and said and I quote, “I have taken the symbol of Christianity (The Cross) from the face of this land, Pakistan.” We paid a heavy price for the mistakes of PPP which has failed to protect us from the Muslim Extremists for all these years. I strongly believe that the government wants the largest minority, the Christian Minority to dissipate from the face of that country. If not, we would demand the following: He demanded government of Pakistan should abolish the blasphemy law; call back the bill from Swat to practice Shria Law immediately; to introduce a bill to have the Christians practice double voting right in the national and provincial election and reserve percentage of Senate seats for Christians; to restore rights for the minorities as stated in the Constitution of 1956; to return rest of the Christian owned and operated Schools, Colleges and Hospitals back to with expenses paid for at least for two years as cost of occupation; and to introduce new legislation to protect minorities from home grown Extremists and strict penalties including death penalties for the abusers of minorities.
