Hyderabad. March 14. 50 persons male and female belonging to Kolhi minority community and residents of lands of landlord of Tando Bago of Badin district of Sindh held demonstration in front of press club Hyderabad the other day and told newsmen that they were tilling lands of landlord Mohammed Ali Khwaja since many years but the landlord never paid them the share out of production of crops they had been cultivating on his lands. They said that they were kept in private prison of the landlord. They said they had now been liberated on orders of District and Sessions Court Badin through the efforts of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and had taken refuge at HRCP camp at Sikendarabad near Kotri town near Hyderabad. They were led by Lalji, Achar, Chandoo and Ms.Soomri. They todl that their 5 women Khetoo wife of Kirmshi, Rohri wife of Ratnoo,Maria wife of Shivo,Soomri wife of Kirshan and Vini wife of Soorto were raped by Mohammed Ismail Jamali and others but police did not take their report. It may be recalled that keeping the peasants belonging to minority community in private prisons by politically influential landlords and taking forced and bonded labor from them on their lands was common in especially southern Sindh province of Pakistan where the women and girls of these unfortunate peasants were often raped by the landlords and their managers. But the administration and police never listens to their grievances and the crime of bonded labor and rape continued uncontrolled.Police even do not file reports of rape and asks the aggrieved persons to come to terms with the culprits and make reconciliation with them.
