LARKANA: October 1, 2010. (Nazir Siyal) As many as thirty people have been fainted and injured in a stampede during the standing rows for Watan Cards here at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for the flood victims in Larkana on Friday. According to details, police led by (U.T) SSP Larkana Waqar, who was trying to manage the flood affectees, suddenly started baton charged on thousands of flood victims, they were suffering in scorching heat out side the center, later the massive victims’ damaged windows and walls inside the established NADRA Center at Government Commerce College Larkana on the occasion. It was also observed that there was no planning for the hundred and thousands affectees to get their Watan cards peacefully at Center, which resulted the stampede occurred and fainted several as flood victims gathered at the narrow entrance of Nadra Office here, the flood victims also tried to move inside, resultantly baton-charged by the police here at Government Commerce College for girls and boys. Under Trainee SSP Larkana Waqar, who was controlling all activities inside and outside of the Centers and several police personals were busy in making deals with approaching victims for the issuance of Token and other facilitation. On the occasion Anwer Khokhar the in charge of Watan Card Center, who also told that they were facing hardships during the distribution of watan cards to the flood affectees, he said that there should be an announcement for separate areas, during the watan card distribution process, they have making only 400 to 500 cards but there is thousands of people coming for the watan card. Nadra officials also told this scribe that they will not start distribution until the administration ensured their security as it was shut down in Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto after the incident. Larkana SSP Waqar told that it is impossible to cover these angry mobs trying to attack inside so that there should be another centers as well as tehsil and Union Council level announcement should be made to distribute the watan cards on the occasion. The hospital authorities have confirmed several injured were in critical condition they were injured in stampede here at Watan Card center in Larkana. Earlier, during the distribution of Wattan Cards at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto and in Larkana dozens of people have been fainted and injured in baton charge by the police. It is also observed by the media men here on Friday that the local administration have been failed to plan and chalk out peacefully distribution of watan cards among the victims here in Lakana and the education of government commerce college was disturbed due to the presence of hundred and thousands of flood affectees coming for watan cards and they have damaged doors, windows and walls of Government Commerce College Larkana. In this regard, when contacted District Coordination Officer (DCO) Larkana Aleem Lashari about the ill-planning and no proper arrangements for the distribution of watan cards among flood victims, he could not attended or reply of journalists calls.
