Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari has traditionally greeted Sikh pilgrims, Hindus and other minorities on the occasion of Christmas, Holi and now Baisakh
Dear Brother Nazir,
Greetings in the Precious Name of Jesus the Christ - our Saviour!
This is a great opportunity to hear from you. I am very much depressed to let you know that most of the grant provided mainly by the Christian organizations/Christian countries, is NOT going to majority of people in general and the Christian community in particular. The grabbers are enjoying themselves in this condition which is very painful for people like us.
Many of our TV Channels have also unveiled the real face of our Muslim brethren. There are still news about NO PROVISION to non-Muslim victims of flood in Pakistan. As you may already know that Pakistan is a Muslim majority country. All the relief organizations are also running with majority of these Muslim people. There is an unannounced level of discrimination among the majority of majority Muslim people. This sense of discrimination has always been a part of the life among this narrow minded community. I have also visited many places recently where we witnessed this practical discrimination and hatred. You will be astonished to hear that even in disaster relief there is discrimination in the minds of the Muslim people. Christian people are still UNTOUCHABLES in Pakistan. You may also confirm it from your own sources as you would need to verify the truth. I hope you understand why it is important to provide for them through any Christian Churches or Organizations in Pakistan.
I am also very sad to say that there are still many thousand Christian families in need of immediate relief what to talk of rehabilitation. We have always done our best to cater for their needs according to our might. However, our resources were meager while their needs were numerous. That is why we did what we could but it was not much. I have visited to provide relief to people irrespective of their cast, creed, religion, faith, lingual, provincial, political or social background. I am, however, very sad to tell you that there has always been discrimination among the victims of flood primarily on the basis of religion. This was the situation all around the country in general and in TAALIBAN areas in particular.
In the prevailing circumstances, I personally prefer to go to many places and people that are still in need of our attention. There are people who have not eaten proper food for a week or so. I gathered all I could to provide for them. I was literally crying to see kids demanding food from their parents. Infants and the aged people were the most needy people in different parts of Pakistan during our visits to them.
Please come forward to help us all in the Name of our Lord.
God Bless,
Your brother in the Lord,
Bishop Jamshed John
