CM Sindh visits flood effected areas

LARKANA: August 28, 2010. (Nazir Siyal) Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah along with GOC Pano Akil Major General Nasurullah and Provincial Ministers also visited the flood affected areas and reviewed flood water position at Kheerthar Canal side, as well ongoing work new protective Bundon Sallaar and Janat barrages. The Chief Minister was briefed by the Chief Engineer Irrigation right Bank Aga Aijaz Pathan and other officials regarding the steps taken to control the flood situation. On the occasion, Chief Minister directed the Police officials and Rangers that they should ensure the law and order situation during the strengthening work of embankments of Salar minor and Janat Shakh. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah along with Provincial Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro last night visited Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto, he offered fateha on the mazars of Shaheed Mohatarma Benazir Bhutto, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto, Shaheed Shahnawaz Bhutto, and late Amir Begum, Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister Sindh said that the provinces has right to organize international donor conference according to the constitution of the country. He further said that after the creation of Pakistan, it is the first major displacement of people (IDP’s) in the country which is due to flood emergency. The Chief Minister said that millions of people of province have been affected due to the flood, the houses were damaged and the agricultural paddy crops including cotton, sugarcane were also badly damaged he said. He said a heavy loss of people has been occurred. The Chief Minister also said that the Government was striving hard to provide food stuff and Medical cover to flood victims at the Relief camps, he also said that every flood affected family was being given of Rupees 20,000 (Twenty Thousand) in this regard the registration work has been started so that the rehabilitation of flood victims may be ensured. Replying to a question, Chief Minister said that we are following the footsteps of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, she gave great sacrifice of her life for the rights of downtrodden people of the country. To another question Chief Minister said that the transport for the flood victims for Thatta district has been arranged by the Local Administration from Karachi, Hyderabad Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza was supervising the evacuation of flood victims in Thatta, as well as the services of Pak Army Navy as well as NGO’s were acquired, added that they were performing very well in this regard, the large scale of relief camps of the flood victims of Thatta district were established at Pipery in Karachi he said. Before this, Chief Minister sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah handed over 9 Trucks loaded with food stuff and five thousand water coolers for flood victims of Larkana region by Mir Munawar Ali Talpur, the MNA of MirPur Khas and Party Leader Hari Ram along with Party Worker of Mir Pur Khas district at here at PTS ground Larkana on Friday. On the occasion the provincial Ministers Aga Siraj Khan Durani, Muhammad Ayaz Soomro SPSF President Mir Suhrab Mari large Number of Party leaders and workers were present. Speaking on the occasion Syed Qaim Ali Shah appreciated the efforts of Mir Munawar Ali Talpur and Hari Ram that in the time of difficulty they contributed lot for the flood victims of Larkano region. he said that the same will be distributed among the flood affectees of Kandh kot, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kamber – Shahdadkot and Larkano Districts. The Chief Minister visited Akil Aaghani bund where the speaker sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuro brief the chief Minister that at the vulnerable point an about at point 8.5 lac cubic feet stone was dumped but there is more stone required for four days more so that the discharge of water flow of Indus river will decrees up 4 lacs cusecs the Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure the availability at the sensitive point of the bund.
