LARKANA: August 20, 2010. (Nazir Siyal) Sindh Minister for Women Development Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto has said that there is a need to empower women in every field in the society, in this regard 16 projects have been approved and five women development projects are under the pipeline, which will be step forward to the development of womenfolk. Speaking to the media men, while visiting the the different relief camps setup by the women crisis complaint center at Lahori Mohalla Larkana, Government Leghari Secondary School, Primary School near Municipal Stadium Larkana, Miro Khan Chowk Larkana, Ratodero town and at Larkana-Khairpur Bridge here on Friday. She said five Centers by the federal government have been handed over to the Women Development Department Sindh. Minister said that officially federal government related Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Center for women (SBBCW) has been running by Sindh government along with five other Women Complaint and Crises Centers (WCCC) in five districts including Larkana, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Hyderabad and Karachi she said. Tauqir Fatima Bhutto apprised that 2 Women Complex (WC) have been approved with a cost of each Rs. 40 million, will be constructed soon at Larkana and Sukkur to facilitate the women she said. She said women complaint centers were playing major role in the society to create awareness and to empower the womenfolk. Minister further said that WCCCs are also providing legal and Medical aid, awareness campaign, Rehabilitation and other facilities. She said Women Development Department has translated in three languages in English, Sindhi Urdu and simultaneously distributed published material among the women in order to awareness about the harassment and their rights. She said the 30 cases at each centers about domestic violence, torture, Karo Kari (honor killing) and other cases were reported from the various districts and Karachi is on the top of list she told. On the occasion, Minister for Women Development distributed food stuffs among the ailing flood victims at relief camps and urged upon the Health department to provide more life saving drugs and treatment with out any delay. She said that there is an urgent need of O.R.S for the children regarding the dehydration at medical camps. The treatment of ailing humanity at relief camps should be properly carried out with food items. She observed that there is also urgent need of more tents in Larkana district which may be provided on emergency basis due to influx of thousands of IDP’s in Larkana district from adjoining districts. She said the present PPP government was committed to provide relief to the flood victims. On the occasion Dr. Sakina Gaad, Zakia Khokhar and large number of women, PPP workers were accompanied with the Minister.
