To celebrate the 53rd Anniversary of the Christian Workers Movement and also to observe CWM Joseph Cardijn Day 2010, the Christian Workers Movement of Archdiocese of Bombay had organized their Archdiocesan Seminar and Annual General Body Meeting on Sunday, 15th August 2010 at Joseph Cardijn Technical School, Dadar, Mumbai 400014 on the theme, Workers: Building Indias future through Peace & Justice. The programme began with the Eucharistic celebration by the Archdiocesan Chaplain, Rev, Fr. Lancy Pinto, who his homily stressed on the virtue of freedom and how Jesus Christ looked at freedom. He said that Jesus had set free for a purpose to establish a kingdom of God on earth. He also explained how Moses told Pharaoh to Set his people free thus explaining that freedom does not exist in vacuum but in responsibility. He explained that if people believe in rights without understanding the rights of other people there will be a chaos. The Right of Freedom was the right to set free for a purpose. After tea break up, the keynote address was delivered by the Archdiocesan Chaplain, Rev, Fr. Lancy Pinto explained as who is the worker and added that everybody who works is a worker, including the house wife. As workers we have to build the future and how will we build up the future. To build for the future we have to build in the present. Future of anything is in the present. This was followed by the Annual General Body Meeting. After the reading of the Minutes, Annual Reports and Annual Accounts, the Returning Officer, Rev. Fr. Lancy Pinto conducted the elections and the following were elected: President : Mr. Willie Rodrigues Vice President : Mr. Macbeth DSouza Secretary : Mr. Cajetan Peter DSouza Asstt-Secretary : Mrs. Irene Sequeira Treasurer : Mr. Charles DSouza In his address, the newly elected President, Willie Rodrigues assured that the Christian Workers Movement will be extended in all parishes of the Archdiocese of Bombay and asked for support of the members to assist in starting the sections of the Christian Workers Movement in parishes. Parishes are also appealed to assist us to start the sections of the Christian Workers Movement in their parishes. The meeting ended with the closing prayer and singing of the National Anthem. The Christian Workers Movement of Archdiocese of Bombay has invited all Catholic workers, professionals, business people, housewives and other Catholics including the retired and those taken VRS/CRS and the BPO-Call Centre workers from all parishes of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Raigad to enroll as members.
