Sialkot: August 15, 2010: (By Fr. Inayat Bernard) “We wish to see our beloved Pakistan a prosperous and peaceful one and free of terrorism and hatred”. The Muslim, Christian and Sikh children were talking at the peace rally to show solidarity to the flood victims on the 63rd independence day of Pakistan.
The rally was organized on 13th August by St. Joseph Girls Youth Group under the guidance of the National Council for Inter-faith Dialogue (NCID) in the church compound of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sialkot.
Talking to the children, the chief guest Sarfraz Emmanuel Siraj said that such programs help the kids to make them aware to become the ambassador of peace in Pakistan. They will be effective peace promoters in the future since they are the future builders of our nation. He appreciated the children and said that the kids have shown their talents through songs, poems and skits. He expressed his joy that the future of Pakistan is bright and it is obvious through their items.
In an inaugural prayer catechist Patras Asi prayed for thousands of flood victims and millions of homeless. After the flag hoisting ceremony the inter-faith kids were shouting slogans, waving green and white banners and flags.
The kids said in their speeches, “We shall make our country a peaceful place and play our role for the stability and prosperity of our motherland”. The kids were told about the background of the Movement of Pakistan to make them strong patriotic nation.
The host and national coordinator of NCID, Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap said that the united efforts of teachers and school kids have brought fruit and the kids have shown their love and enthusiasm to celebrate the 63rd independence day. He appealed to the kids not to have the majority and minority idea in their minds. He said that the minorities have given lot of sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan and its development.
He addressed to the kids especially to play their role in the present situation of terrorism and instability and they will become the ambassadors of peace in their homes, streets and grass root level. Kids stood in silence for one minute to show solidarity to the flood victims and the independence cake was cut and distributed among the kid participants.
