LARKANA: August 12, 2010. (By Nazir Siyal) Central PPP leader Senator Dr. Safdar Abbasi said that all political forces should unite on National Issue of super flood and help the present government to appeal world community to support financially Pakistan in order to steer the country out of calamity, he expressed these views while visiting the Nusrat Loop Bund, Aqil Agani loop Bund, Larkana Khairpur Bridge and other vulnerable, embankments of River Indus Larkana on Thursday.
He further said that this is a not time of shining politics or photo sessions for party leaders but this is a critical time of history, millions peoples have been displaced due to super flood, he also criticized on certain leaders who are politicizing flood issue for their political gain in such devastating situation.
Senator Dr. Safdar Abbasi said that if the Kala Bagh were constructed it would have done more damaged to several big cities of Khayber PakhtoonKhuwa Province, he added that three provinces have already rejected such controversial project so taking about Kala Bagh Dam is useless, he said. He said Pakistan is facing unprecedented flood situation and more forth coming flood will be a big challenge to face future super flood threats, he also appealed to UNO and other human organization of world to help the country men, he added there is a dire need of International relief support.
Senator Dr. Safdar Abbasi reviewed arrangements of relief camps and visited the sensitive points of River Indus, he said after long period (34 years) this is worst kind of flood in the history of Pakistan he said also flood has effected the Pakhtunkhuwa, Punjab and Sindh provinces and swallowed the infrastructure of over 100 Billions he added that so far millions of people have been displaced by devastating super flood.
He said it was also unseen River Indus scattered on extraordinary water and at peak flood level but after a week about 9 to 10 lac cusecs water is more threats to the province of Sindh and we hope that it would pass easily from Indus River, he said special measures taken to control future situation of flood threat regarding any havoc.
Senator Abbasi also expressed that the media is an icon of the society and the blockage of TV Channels and pressure on anchors regarding the freedom of expression is regrettable and hoped that government or any group should lift ban on Media.
On the occasion, MPA Haji Munwer Ali Abbasi while talking to media men said that the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had overlooked Akil, Agani Bund, Nusrat Loop Bund himself and record development works carried out he said present PPP government is also utilizing its all resources for relief work and serving the poor people he said PPP government will not left alone to downtrodden people of Sindh in hard time. He said 1973 and 1976 flood were also a super flood and PPP government had supported the flood effectees now present PPP government will help the flood victims.
Munwer Abbasi said there are funds every year but the previous government did not properly utilize funds, that’s why threat of flood and weakening of embankments are witnessed by masses he said. He said the present government is taking special measures to strengthen the protective Bunds of Larkana he said.
Later, the Senator Dr. Safdar Abbasi, MPA Haji Munwer Ali Abbasi, met the Gadiasheen Sayed Imdad Ali Shah and visited Pir Juman Shah Mazar, where they offered Fateha and laid floral wreath on the Mazar.
