Christian under threat in Bahawalnagar now after Muslim mob attacks in Faisalabad

Chishttian, Pakistan: July 29, 2010. (PCP) A prayer request have been appealed by Christian Lawyers Foundation CLF leader Khalid Gill for Christian living in city of Chishttian in Bahalwalnagar district of Southern Punjab where Muslims are threatening to kill Christian on accusation of blasphemy. According to information received by PCP, on July 24, Mr. Tanveer Masih, who is resident of Christian Colony in Chishttian and working in private clinic Bajwa Hospital as sanitary worker was accused by one Muslim that he have desecrated Holy Quran. The news was voiced from local mosques and Muslims gathered to punish blasphemy accused Tanveer Masih. The tension is high and many of Christians have fled from homes while Tanveer Masih have also gone in hiding to safe his life. The Muslim extremists had gunned down Two Christian Brothers in Faisalabad District Courts and later Muslim mob attacked on Christian Colony Warispura destroying shops on July 19, 2010. Syed Mumtaz Alam Gilani who is Federal Minister for Human Rights is elected member from Chishttian and Christian leaders are appealing him to adopt necessary security measure to avoid incident like Faisalabad. When tried to contact Tanveer Masih, we were unable to locate him but Mr. Khalid who is cousin brother of Tanveer Masih told PCP that Tanveer is of age 28 years and married to Najma Bibi having two sons. Tanveer Masih have three sisters, one married and two are minors. They living as joint family with Yousaf Masih, father of accused.
