Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari has traditionally greeted Sikh pilgrims, Hindus and other minorities on the occasion of Christmas, Holi and now Baisakh
On murder of Christian Brothers: Blasphemy law have taken enough lives in Pakistan. Salma Peter John
It is a sad news indeed and must be condemned by the world. Blasphemy laws and discriminatory laws have already taken several lives in the past and have mostly been used to implicate religious minorities to set personal scores and for vengeance.
The acts committed by the unruly and unrestraint Islamic organizations are the eye opening for the entire world. Propagation of vile ideologies by these elements, at one hand shows the failure of the authorities to control them and on the other hand a lack of will to challenge them.
The People of Pakistan are equally responsible for not doing away with such draconian laws that are being used by these elements to play havoc and damage the peace and harmony of the society, above all damage Pakistan itself.
Being a Young Pakistani Christian and member of religious minority community of Pakistan, I certainly have reservations and questions to ask that is to why in the past several years, we have not been able to evolve a concrete strategic plan to empower and uplift our minorities.
May be the answer is quite clear that we never thought of it or may be too engrossed in projection of individuals.
If we wish to change the things over night, certainly that won’t happen as any sane person can see that we live in Islamic Pakistan. One person can’t do every thing and it will not be rational to expect from a person with restricted powers.
Have we ever thought to galvanize ourselves irrespective of our differences and create unity, cooperation and understanding on issues that effects us all and together pave our way towards our goal/destiny? How this can be done?, that’s what we all need to look for.
I know everyone of you have the power of reasoning and ability to make a mark. Thus, what we need is to be aware of our personal calling. At first we might make mistakes but the secret is though we make mistakes but each time we should learn.
The question is have we learned any lesson from the past experiences? Do we have a plan; so we may march towards our destiny?
