LARKANA: July 11, 2010. (Nazir Siyal) Wheel jam and shutter down strike was observed by the Pakistan Peoples Party (Shaheed Bhutto) here in Larkana district against an artificial water shortage in Sindh and unannounced load shedding here on Sunday.
On the occasion, PPP Shaheed Bhutto workers led protest demonstration from Al-Murtaza Bhutto House Larkana to Press Club and chanted slogans against artificial water scarcity and unannounced load shedding.
The protesters including Central President PPP-SB Youth Ghulam Rasool Umrani, Divisional President Asif Ali Jatoi, District President Haji Khan Brohi, Ali Hyder Samo, Imran Kartio, Shahnawaz and others participated in the protest.
During the protest demonstration three workers Sayed Ahsan, Sirai Ashfaq Abbasi and Saddam Sargani were arrested by the Larkana police.
Complete shutter down strike was witnessed in various parts of Larkana city and all the petrol pumps were remain closed and traffic was thin on the roads here on Sunday.
A heavy police and Rangers was deployed at various locations and sensitive places and chowks of the city on the occasion. Security was put high alert in district, while in the morning traffic was also suspended for hours. The Rangers and police was alert at various sensitive places, banks, petrol pumps.
In Larkana, main markets were completely closed among Sabzi Mandi, Station Road, Bunder Road, Royal Road, Resham Gali, Shahi Bazar, Pakistan Chowk and other parts of the city.
Party local leaders and worker took out protest demonstration and burnt tyres against laod shedding and water scarcity and demanded for the due share and end laod shedding.
Meanwhile, Sindh Journalists Society (SJS) has strongly condemned the passing anti-Media provincial resolution in Punjab Assembly and demanded to withdrawal of resolution by the parliamentary members.
SJS has said that the Punjab Assembly members should respect the freedom of expression of media persons and if they are true and earned genuine degrees why fear on the issue.
Meanwhile, Khaksar Tehreek Larkana Chapter took out protest rally against the Punjab Assembly resolution regarding the anti print and electronic media.
Khaksar Workers led by the President Khakdsar Tehreek Larkana Niaz Baloch, Pir Bux Abbasi and others observed took out demonstration and chanted slogans in favor of the print and electronic media.
The workers demanded for the freedom of media and held protest demonstration in front the Press Club Larkana.
Khaksar leaders said that all the dictators have made strong group to crush the independent media playing its role in the positive criticism to mould corrupt Assembly members. They said the will support media on their positive
