Toba Tek Singh: May 13, 2010. St. Peter’s High School joined the movement of AMAN KI ASAH the joint venture of JANG group of Publications and The Times of India group to promote peace between the two nations. The school organized the activity in connecting with the chain of handkerchiefs with peace message from Pakistani students to Indian students.
60 students including boys and girls took part in “ AMAN MIAN MAYRA HISA” (My contribution to peace). The white kerchiefs of 11x11 were given to students who wrote their messages of peace to the students in India. The students designed various peace symbols, quotations, prayers and wishes for the both the nations. The few messages that attract people of various sections are, “ May Peace be in India, May Peace Be in Pakistan! Please ask your government to ensure water for Pakistan! No to arms, Yes to Development, India and Pakistan play together in the own grounds and end terrorism, Peace is like a rive flowing out through you and me, I love Pakistan & India, Let us make our paradise Kashmir a safe heaven, Let us press our governments to ease travel between the people of two countries and Yes to peace no to war”
Addressing the students, Main Muhammad Rafiq, Member Punjab Assembly, hailed The Times of India and JANG group for joint venture. He hoped that the efforts under AMAN KI AHSA would help to change the mindset of the people of two countries. AMAN MIAN MARA HISA is a forum for the students where they will learn the values of peace, love, tolerance, and joy.
He stressed upon the need of cut in defense budget of the two nations and allocates more on education, health and other basic needs of the people of Pakistan and India. In a world of two countries where there are miseries, terrorism, mistrust, AMAN KI ASHA is hope and a Road Map to peace between the two countries.
Ms. Rafia Salomi, deputy Director, Society for Human Development encouraged, parents, and teachers for motivating their students to be a part of the chain for peace between the two countries”
Rasheed Jalal, President, PML (N) Minorities Wing, declared the program of my contribution to peace a milestone for the two nations. He said, it was expected by the groups like Geo and JANG to involve public of two countries at mass level. He advised the people of two nations to follow the both groups for lasting peace’
Rev. Fr. Simon Khurshid, said, the young students have given a clear message through their art work that no one can stop them to make peace among the people of two countries. It’s not a simple art but a reflection of students’ aspirations, dreams and vision for the two countries’
Nida Ashfaq a student of class nine prayed that Peace be prevailed in her two loving countries.
Arzoo Butta class eight expressed her great joy over the contribution she has made to step forward for peace.
Nisar Amjid a student of class nine is desirous to have friends in India and is grateful to JANG and GEO to fulfill his dream.
Ashfaq Fateh, thanked students, parents, social and political leaders to witness and encouraging the students to express their feelings for peace in South Asian region. He assured the JANG group would always be supported for his peace and development work for the two countries.
The students chanted slogans for peace and harmony between the two nations. The lunch was served to the students after the program.
