Lahore: May 11, 2010. (PCP) Police officer who was in charge of Gojra Town when on August 1, 2009, more than 5 thousand Muslims attacked Christians and burnt alive 8 Christians was promoted and appointed as CCPO Lahore city by Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif in month of May 2010. The Chief Justice of Lahore High Court took Suo-Motu notice on appointment of police officer Ahmad Raza Tahir as CCPO Lahore and summoned Punjab administration to cancel his appointment as he was found responsible in failure to protect the destruction of more than hundred Christian homes and burning alive Christian children and women from Muslim mob. Mian Shahbaz Sharif formed a Tribunal after violence against Christians in Gojra and Tribunal submitted findings to Chief Minister in which DPO Ahmad Raza Tahir was accused of turning blind eye on killing of Christians. Justice Iqbal Hameed Rehman, who headed the Tribunal clearly noted that Ahmad Raza Tahir DPO Gojra was involved in violence due to his inefficient performance to stop Muslim mob. The Chief Minister Punjab who heads Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Group was fully aware of findings of Gojra Violence Tribunal but still he promoted Ahmad Raza as CCPO Lahore. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC condemned Punjab Chief Minister,s anti-Christian behavior on promoting a police officer who failed to protect life and property of Christians in Gojra Town on August 1, 2009. Nazir Bhatti said “PML(N) is responsible for attacks on Christians in Punjab by Muslim mobs and failed to protect millions of Punjabi Christians” “In Shazia case when an influential Muslim was involved in rape and murder of 12 years old Christian housemaid the CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif saved accused by formation of Medical Boards in month of January 2010, in Lahore” added Nazir Bhatti The Muslim mobs destroyed homes of Christians in Bahminwala, Korian and Gojra in 2009 but all accused Muslims walked free because they were voters of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Group. The incidents of arrests of Christians in Punjab which is governed by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz have risen in its tenure. Nazir Bhatti praised role of Lahore High Court on taking Suo-Motu notice on appointment of DPO Gojra as CCPO Lahore.
