Faisalabad: April 19, 2010. (By Shafiq Sharif) On 13th April 2010, Catholic Diocese of Faisalabad organized a special ceremony to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Diocese, at Bishop’s House in Faisalabad. This ceremony was joined by Bishops, Priests, Nuns, Brothers, political and social figures, and over 3000 people belonging to different areas of Faisalabad Diocese. The ceremony was started with few symbols of peace such as; lighting candles, releasing pigeons and flying balloons in the air. Besides, special Holy Mass was celebrated for the improvement in the law and order situation in Pakistan.
At this juncture, Archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana (Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan), Bishop Joseph Coutts (Faisalabad Diocese), Archbishop Lawrence John Saldana (Lahore Diocese), Bishop Andrew Francis (Multan Diocese), Fr. Khalid Rasheed Asi (Vicar General Faisalabad Diocese), Fr. Parvez Emmanuel, Fr. Aftab James Paul, Fr. James O.P., Bro. Ambrose Pen (Italy) and Sr. Elveera (Italy) expressed their views on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Faisalabad Diocese. The speakers appreciated and cherished all the former Bishops, Priests, Nuns, Brothers and Catechists who had served in the Diocese of Faisalabad to take the Diocese to the heights of progress during the last fifty years.
Rt. Rev. Archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana congratulated the Diocesan family and all the Catholics on the behalf of Pope Benedict XVI for completing the fifty years. He said, “A seed which was sowed in Faisalabad fifty years ago, has well grown up now, and may this plant beget much fruit in the future, and may God dwell his peace, love, grace and all his blessings upon Diocesan family forever”.
Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Coutts thanked all the guests and Catholics for coming from different parts of the country. He said, “We must go to the people belonging to different faiths during this Jubilee Year with the message of peace, tolerance and harmony, for bringing about peace and solidarity in the country”.
