Rawalpindi. Pakistan: April 6, 2010. (Xavier William reports for PCP) ) On 5th April RCDM ( Robinson Community Development Ministries) invited the media for a Press conference at the Gordon College Chapel to condemn the attack on the Church on 2nd April.
Chairman RCDM Mr. Robinson Asghar headed the Press conference, he started by thanking the local Christians and the organizations like Life for All, Ephlal Ministry, Pakistan Christian Congress and others who supported them on 2nd April 2010 and assisted them in getting the FIR ( First Information Report)registered.
He thanked the SHO ( Station Hoouse Officer) Israr Ahmed Satti for the swift action and arresting the culprits. He Strongly condemned the attack and said "The Christians in Pakistan have always served Pakistan with honesty and dedication, but such incidents are
disturbing for us. He continued that I myself have served as a G.D. Pilot for the Pakistan Air Force and my brother is serving as a colonel in the Pakistan Army, we are patriotic Pakistanis". He said that such a big incident took place and no major party or politician has given any statement to condemn the unfortunate incident, we demand the CM ( Chief Minister) Punjab to take notice of the incident and we look towards the Chief Justice of
Pakistan to take Somoto action for this incident. He said that the arrested culprits are all Muslims, they are on remand for 3 days, we will not allow any league or political group to disrespect the sanctity of the Church. He said we will expose the real faces behind the
attack as soon as the police has completed the investigation. He also thanked the local administration for their cooperation.
Prof. Salamat Akhtar said that Quaid-e-Azam assured equal rights and protection of the minorities in Pakistan, but today none of the words have been respected. The Government has failed to protect the Christians, he condemned the attack and demanded to form
a committee that will announce the next strategy for pursuing the legal matters.
Pastor Samson Bhatti said that it is really unfortunate that Good Friday as a day to rejoice as Jesus Christ our Lord gave his life for us, but we were forced to spend the night in distress trying to get the FIR for the incident. He said that the culprits took the women and
innocent children at the gun point and harassed them, They disrespected the sanctity of the Church. He said How long does the Punjab Government wants to shed the blood
of the Christians in Pakistan. He said that our villages have been burnt, our Families have been burnt, our youth has been killed without any justification. He said Malik Shakeel Awan got over 10,000 Christian votes to become the MNA, but he didn’t even come to inquire that is everyone alright? We don’t want anyone’s sympathies, we only want justice.
The committee to lead the matter further has been announced as follows: Robinson Asghar, Prof. Salamat Akhtar, Mehboob Alam, Pastor Samson Bhatti, Pastor Zafar Mall and Imran Gill
