Hyderabad Aug 24: Leaders of different political parties and social welfare organizations have demanded equal rights for minority people. They were speaking at a seminar titled as "Challenges of democracy and the role of minority councilors" organized by minority's right commission of Pakistan (MRCP) here at a local hotel on Saturday Speaking on the occasion PPP leader Jam Saqi said it was due struggle of different political parties, social welfare organizations and minorities that joint electorate systems was reintroduced in the country. He said secularism and democracy could guarantee the rights of minorities. MPA Abdul Rahman Rajput said MMA was committed to protect the minority's rights. He said he was prepared to pay Rs 500,000 out of his MPA development fund for any minority project. MPA Aslam Pervez advocate of MQM said minorities must get equal rights in the country and added that his party would extend all the cooperation to them. The seminar adopted several resolutions demanding equal political, social and economic rights for minorities, abolition of black laws and equal treatment to minority councilors in respect development funds.
