PCC expresses concern on life sentence for blasphemy accused Christian

New York: March 1, 2010; (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have expressed grave concern on life sentence to Qamar David on accusation of blasphemy in Pakistan. The life sentence verdict was given to Qamar David by district and session judge Karachi on February 25, 2010, after accusation of blasphemous messages broadcasting to Muslims from his cell phone. Qamar David was arrested on May 24, 2006, by police on complains of a Muslim travel agent that he received messages by Mr. David which defiled Prophet Mohammad. Dr. Bhatti said “Christians are victims of Pakistani Justice system when Muslim judges issue bias verdicts on cases of blasphemy charges” Pakistan Christian Congress PCC demanded appointment of Christian justices in Supreme Court of Pakistan, Lahore High Court, Sindh High Court, NWFP High Court and Balochistan High Court on recent lot of appointment of Muslim Justices when there is no Christian Justice in any higher court . Christians are 13% of Population in Pakistan but have no representation in Judiciary. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said “Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan takes Suo-Motto notices on every Muslim issue but have always turned eyes from Christian persecution in Pakistan” PCC have appealed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Choudry to take Suo-Motto notice on incidents of Gojra, Korian and Bahminwala when Muslims attacked Christian villages on accusation of blasphemy but honorable Chief Justice of Supreme Court not took any notice. “I appeal Chief Justice of Pakistan to take Suo-Motto notice of Qamar David verdict and take action against Blasphemy law which violate human rights guaranteed in Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan” added Nazir Bhatti Nazir Bhatti said Pakistan Christian Congress denounces blasphemy law and victimization of Christians
