New York: February 18, 2010. (PCP) Fr. Francis Tanveer, a Capuchin priest from Pakistani origin, a famous author of poetry and religious hymns and a golden jubilee award winner of Catholic Bible Commission of Pakistan was incardinated in the archdiocese of New York on February 15, 2010.
Fr. Francis was born on January 10, 1959, in remote village named Gurbaksh Pura in district Gujrat of Punjab province of Pakistan. His father Dr. Barkat Masih and mother Sardaran Maria vowed to make him priest as he was born in same home of his mother where his elder brother died. Fr. Francis Tanveer have two sisters and four brothers.
Dr. Barkat Masih, father of Fr. Francis Tanveer selected St. Peter's school for his primary education while enrolled him in St. Joseph's Urdu Medium school for secondary school education in city of Gujranwala which is 40 kilometers from his home in Gloria Abad, Sheikhopura. Fr. Tanveer passed the intermediate from the Gov. Degree College Sheikhupura and graduated from the Punjab University, Lahore.
In 1978, Fr. Tanveer entered in the Capuchin Community of Pakistan and completed four years education in St. Mary's Minor seminary, Dar-Ul-Naem, and St. Fracnis' Friary in Kot Lakhpat, Lahore. Later, he went to Christ the King Seminary, in Karachi, for six more years to study philosophy, and theology. He obtained BD (Bachelor of Divinity), from Milltown Institute in Dublin, Ireland
Fr. Francis Tanveer was Ordained a Capuchin Priest on July 8, 1988 in Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Lahore. He became first Native Rector of the Capuchin Students in Lahore and Professor at St. Mary's seminary, and Dal-ul-Naim, Lahore, Diocesan Liturgical Commission, Youth Ministry. He served as Parish priest Youhannabad Lahore, St. James Church in Sialkot Cantt. He started his services in January 2000 in archdiocese of New York, and became a priest for the archdiocese of New York on February, 15, 2010.

Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC and President of Pakistani Christian Association in America PCA, congratulated Fr. Francis Tanveer to be a part of Archdiocese of New York.
PCA leaders, William Shahzad, Babar Khokhar, Javeed Gill, Dr. Edgar Wilson and Javed Khokhar in a message paid homage to services of Fr. Francis Tanveer and congratulated him on his incardination in New York archdiocese.
