Lady Health Workers protest for increase in salaries

LARKANA: February 15, 2010. (Nazir Siyal for PCP0 Several Lady Health Workers (LHWs) on Thursday observed protest demonstration and vowed to continue their countrywide boycott of polio campaign, from February 15 - 17th, against the regularization and increase of their salaries here outside the Larkana Press Club. Hundreds of Lady Health Workers carrying banners and play card chanted slogans to fullfil their rights, they demanded that they should immediately regularized their jobs and increase of salaries they were serving for a long. They announced to boycott of Polio campaign in various parts of country and continue thier protest demonstrations, if their problems will not be resolved and salaries. A weak before, hundreds of LHWs from several districts of Sindh gathered here and led their protest before the mausoleum of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto for regularization of their jobs and allowances. Countrywide protests of LHWs continued, while in Larkana Polio campaign started here on Monday to cover 44 Union Councils and administer 275819 children in Larkana district, through 529 teams of LHW and others, but the workers early in the morning took out protest demonstration here out side the Press Club and they demanded for their regularization of jobs. The Lady Workers, Sakina, Rukhsana, Sughran and others demanded that the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had promised them to permanent their jobs. Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) wings in support of President and the Lawyers fraternity in Larkana took out different rallies and protest demos against the presidential order and in support of CJP here on Monday. According to the details, the PPP Youth Wing and Peoples Students Federation (PSF) took out protest rallies against the media trial of President Asif Ali Zardari and countrywide support of PPP workers. The rallies were taken out from PPP secretariat Kenedy market, marched on the roads and reached at Jinnah Bagh and burnt tires on the occasion. The workers chanted slogans and shouted against the media trial of President Asif Ali Zardari, they also condemned the opposition parties and lawyers community for creating havoc in the environment and democratic government. The Lawyers Community in Larkana took out protest demonstration and boycotted of the District Bar Association and High Court Bar Association Larkana activities here on Monday. On the occasion, large number of advocates’ fraternity divided in two groups and they were protesting and chanted slogans against the President Asif Ali Zardari and supported Chief Justice of Pakistan. Lawyers wore arm bands and took out rally before the Court and chanted slogans of CJP Iftekhar Mohammed Chaudhry. They also supported him and condemned present government for interference in the judicial matters and imposing decisions by dictation, but they will never bow before leaders said. They said the countrywide strike, boycott of courts proceedings, declaring steps taken by the government on appointment of superior court judges contradictory to the constitution they said. The Lawyers protest rally was led by the Advocates Action Committee (AAC) leader and former General Secretary High Court Bar Association, while other Advocates Shamsuddin Soomro, Habibullah Ghauri, Mohammed Rafiq Abro, Mohammed Aslam Jatoi, Oshaq Ali Sangi, Ashfaq Abro, Mohammed Bux, Nadeem Qureshi and others. While, the District Bar Association (DBA) Larkana held emergency meeting regarding the Lawyers Protest. The meeting presided over by the senior Advocates Abdul Razaq Soomro and Abdul Hamid Bhurgari and condemning the Lawyers protest against the President Asif Ali Zardari and boycott in the judiciary. They said they are supporting President Asif Ali Zardari, who is revolutionary and leading country to the path of success and condemning the act of media trial against democratic government.
