Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari has traditionally greeted Sikh pilgrims, Hindus and other minorities on the occasion of Christmas, Holi and now Baisakh
Philadelphia: February 12, 2010. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have appealed to Chancellor Angela Merkel to intervene on humanitarian ground to stop deportation orders of a Pakistani woman Razia Bashir Masih from Germany.
“PCC fears that Razia Bashir Masih will be persecuted and victimized by Pakistani police or Muslims if deported to Pakistan” said Nazir Bhatti
Razia Bashir Masih, 27, is a Christian female from Pakistan. She is member of THE SALVATION ARMY church in Mehmoodabad, Karachi (Pakistan). She had come to Germany in 2008 along with a Muslim man called CHAND who had promised Razia to marry her and arrange for her proper employment in Germany. Razia being an uneducated Christian girl from a poor family trusted the promise of CHAND and came to Germany with him.
The said person called Chand collected all identity documents, jewellery, cash and clothes of Razia Bashir and disappeared as soon as they reached Germany. The agony of the case is that when Razia Bashir Masih left Pakistan, she had not taken her own family in confidence and as such this mistake also put her in great trouble and embarrassment because she had nobody back home to hear her complaint against Chand and his criminal acts. In addition to this, the Muslim family of Chand, after having discovered that Chand had left Pakistan along with a Christian girl, they got annoyed and considered this act of Chand as a sheer humiliation for the family in the eyes of Muslim community living in their area. Such an act of Chand (leaving Pakistan with a Christian girl for marriage) made the family members of Chand so arrogant and depressed that they threatened to kill Razia Bashir Masih as soon as she returned to Pakistan.
Realizing that her life was in severe danger if she returned to Pakistan and having lost all hopes to find Chand (who might have decided not to marry Razia any more due to his own family´s pressure and therefore disappeared), Razia Bashir Masih had no other alternative except to seek asylum in Germany in 2008.
Being not very intelligent or educated and having no money left at her disposal, Razia Bashir Masih could not understand the procedure being followed in Germany in the matter of dealing with asylum applications. She was interviewed by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees on June 2, 2008 where she replied to several questions. However, in view of the fact that Razia Bashir Masih had no money and as a consequence of this financial stringency, she could not hire a lawyer to guide her, she could not convince the questioner at the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. Consequently, her application for asylum in Germany was REJECTED. She had no money to hire a lawyer to file her APPEAL and as such she lost the available time limit to file such appeal.
Now, Razia Bashir Masih has been asked to leave Germany. She has been taken to Embassy of Pakistan by the German Police to apply for Pakistani passport but in view of the fact that she is a Christian and having lost her identity papers earlier, Pakistan embassy is still investigating about her address in Pakistan.
Nazir Bhatti said that on arrival of Razia Bashir Masih in Pakistan, she will be arrested by Federal Investigation Agency FIA at airport and prosecuted under immigration acts where she will be tortured and persecuted being a Christian woman.
The behavior of Pakistani police and other investigation agencies toward Pakistani Christians is substandard and justice will not be insured with Razia Bahir Masih.
Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have fears that family of Chand who brought her to Germany will involve her in fabricated cases of blasphemy to revenge.
Nazir S Bhatti said under prevailing situation of Christians persecution in Pakistan, Razia Bashir Masih case may be reviewed and her deportation may be stopped.
