Orientation of NGO Database organized by Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education

LARKANA: February 3, 2010. (Nazir Siyal for PCP) Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education department organized an “Orientation Workshop of National Database of NGOs and stakeholders”, here at Local hotel on Wednesday. A large number of Non Government Organization’s representatives attended the workshop and participated in the database sharing and empowerment through internal facilities by the donor agencies and other concerned departments. On the occasion, Social Welfare department officials including the Trainer Yassir, Imtiaz Hussain Jokhio, Niaz Khokhar, Faheem Athar, Ghulam Umer Korai briefed about world wide access and benefits to the NGOs. They highlighted that the launching of database with 800 NGOs in the ministry would take benefit of projection of free of cost, latest information of organizations and donor agencies and updated information of projects and registration process they said. Social Welfare Officials further told that the trainings on district level along with registration have been started all over Pakistan to meet the challenges in the field of volunteerism and social services of 45000 NGOs registered under various laws in country. On the occasion, various local NGOs including Kainnat, Al-Nisa, Social Welfare Organization, Mathini Women Welfare Association, The Best and several other organizations’ male and female representatives attended the workshop. Meanwhile, a one-day free medical camp was organized at the village Kamal Khan Chandio Union Coucil Waris Dino Machi a remote area of Ratodero tehsil Larkana by Kainnat Social Development Organization said the press statement. The Organization President Sayed Rashid Bukhari along with civil society representative inaugurated the medical camp. The camp was organized two days and some 65 HB tests were held out of 05 positive, total 280 women patients were examined in the camp who were given free medicines. Syed Rashid Hussain Bukhari told that the purpose of such free medical camps held from time to time by the Kainnat Social Development Organization is to provide primary healthcare services to the neglected and hard to reach communities at their doorsteps. While the Aneela Soomro the activist of the organization told that the Organization has been able to provide the clinical services and free medication the patients predominantly suffering from skin diseases, acute respiratory infections and Diarrhoeal diseases resulting from poor access to healthcare, unhealthy life style, lack of awareness on health and hygiene and non-availability of proper water and sanitation facilities she said. Kainnat was trying to access to knowledge and skills, health care services and by improving partnership among different stakeholders especially community and health service- providers to deal health issues they said.
