Pakistan: January 27, 2010. (Nazir Siyal reports for PCP) A four member delegation under the Norwegian Pakistan Partnership Initiatives (NPPI) visited the Larkana and held meeting with the stake holders of the district regarding the Health Sector initiatives regarding Mother and Child health, Immunization development by the Health department and other core programs of UNICEF, WHO and other Organizations. The delegation headed Norwegian Embassy Councilor Development Terji along with Andro Shiklakadze Chief Field Office UNICEF Sindh and Mohammed Cisse Chief Health and Nutrition Unicef in Islamabad, DG Health Abdul Sattar Korai and other stake holders reviewed the the health issues regarding the mother and child at BHUs. The participants including the EDO health, RSPN representatives Tania Khan of the delegation briefed about the performance of MNC program was run by the Health department and other implementing partners. They told that the lady Docotrs and Lady Health Visitors were appointed at selected RHUs under the MNCH program. Tania Khan pointed out that the TT vaccines availability is common problem for the pregnant women, she said the community monitoring various the development and working units as well the focal persons have been deputed to observe the success of the program. She said the 42 percent areas still uncovered by the health professionals and due to the maternal matters and need to development a data center. The delegation emphasized on the success of program in rural areas safe delivery and sustainability of intervention of the stake holders, while during the interaction regarding the health issues the data about the mortality rate of mother and child during the delivery was shared on the occasion. Later, the delegation along with Rural Support Program Network (RSPN) representatives, Sindh Rural Support Program (SRSP) Sona Kangarani, Abdul Hamid Bullo RSM SRSO and other stake holders visited the Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto and offered Fateha at the Mazars of Benazir Bhutto, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
