Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari has traditionally greeted Sikh pilgrims, Hindus and other minorities on the occasion of Christmas, Holi and now Baisakh
LARKANA: January 23, 2010. (Nazir Siyal reports for PCP) Pakistan Peoples Party along with its wings and several other Nationalists of Sindh, Jeay Sindh Taraqi Passand Party, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Jeay Sindh Qaumparast Movement, Sindh National Party, Sindh National Front and other political parties and Civil Society organizations of Sindh that included Indus Institute for Research and Education (IIRE), SAP- PAK SINDH, Sindh Hari Porhiat Council, Pirbhat Women Development Society, Mehergarh Learning Center, Bhandar Hari Sangat, All Kolhi Association, Indus Rural Development Organization, IDO, Daman Tharparkar, Hamdam Development Organization etc has organized Water March to Protect Water of Indus River on January 24, 2010.
While the PPP Larkana district led by Mohammed Ayaz Soomro and others parties will expressed their solidarity at Larkana-Khairpur bridge near Bakrani.
While, the PPP leader and Chairman Sindh Development Committee Dr. Shafqat Soomro along with large number of PPP workers took to the procession at Jamshoro and at Al Manzar-Right Bankof the Indus River and expressed their solidarity with Sindh people.
Organizing the Water March by the Nationalists means to development pressure on federal government to distribute water among the nations equally, and acknowledge the right of Sindh on Water by giving its due share of Water to Sindh, while, due to acute shortage of water to downstream Kotri, more than three million populations are suffering. Thousands of acres of irrigated land are degrading. Livelihoods of millions of people are at risk.
Echo System is dying. Numbers of indigenous species of fish, birds and animals are disappearing. Vulnerability of population of coastal belt is increasing. Anytime, people of costal belt can be affected by heavy rains, hurricanes, storms, floods and tsunamis, if
forests of timar trees are increasingly destroyed, as being happened since the last decade.
Civil Society organizations of Sindh are struggling for the peace and justice society and condemn all sorts of violations; maybe it is made in the name of Social, Cultural, Religion and Economical domains.
It is observed that since more than half century, the Indus River is being made dried up deliberately. Due share of water is not given to the nations as agreed upon. Agreements and Accords are totally ignored by IRSA. Ensuring equal distribution of The Indus River Water among the nations and releasing water to downstream Kotri, as suggested by number of research studies and water experts, Water March is organized.
