Islamabad; December 28, 2009. (PCP) Kalar Kahatr Town, about 125 kilometer from Islamabad, was not ‘Merry Christmas” for Christians when Muslim mob attacked and injured 56 Christians. Among injured were children, women and elders also who were gathering for midnight services on under construction Church site on December 24, 2009. in Kalar Kaha. PCC local leaders Mehboob Alam and PCC Joint Secretary Xavier William based in city of Rawalpindi were contacted by Pastor Naveed and informed about incident of attack on Christians. PCC leaders approached Kalar Kahar Town and pressed upon area police station to register First Information Report FIR against Muslim attackers and provide medical aid to injured Christians but same was denied. Mr Xavier William and Mr. Mehboob Alam arranged a press conference at a Community Hall, near Sir Syed Chowk to highlight sad incident but same was not covered by any Muslim owned media which was printing news items “Pakistani Christians celebrating Christmas peacefully” on intimation of government/ Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have already disclosed threat SMS on mobile phones of thousands of Christians by militants to attack during Christmas feast which spread wave of fear among 20 million Christians in Pakistan. According to details, on 25th June 2009, the Government of Pakistan allotted a piece of land to the Christian Community for building a Church next to the Motorway at Kalar Kahar. The transfer letter and the allotment letter were given to the local Pastor, Pastor Naveed John. The Pastor raised some money for the boundary wall, but couldn’t raise enough money to start the construction of the Church. They collected some donations from different organizations and gathered enough funds to start the construction. On 4th December 2009, the Church committee laid the foundation to start the construction, on morning of 6th December some Muslim religious fundamentalists came and stopped the workers and threatened them of dire consequences. Pastor Naveed John came to the scene and told them that he has the property papers, so they cant stop the construction. 2 days latter a larger group of the Islamic fundamentalists came and threatened the workers. The Pastor Naveed sent a complaint to the DCO, but he didn’t respond. On the eve on 24th December 2009 the people were gathered at the Church site for worship, a mob of the extremists attacked the worshipers and injured around 65 Christian. When PCC leaders were engaged with local lawyers to file petition in Higher Court to register FIR and arrest that attackers, some Christian tools selected by Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz rushed to Kalar Kahar and hatched a conspiracy to safe the Muslim attackers on directives of government. It was claimed by Federal Minister for Minorities and Punjab provincial Christian Minister that FIR is registered against Muslim attackers and injured have been hospitalized. When PCP sources contacted local administration of Kalar Kahar, registration of any FIR was denied and it was revealed that Christian Members in Punjab Assembly visited police station and a compromise deal was sorted out among PML(N) local parliamentarian and PPP Minority leaders to write incident report in “Police Station Daily Roznamcha” instead of FIR and start construction of Church. The compromise deal was same like Bahminwala village deal when Federal Minority Minister not insisted to register FIR against Muslim mob on burning of hundred Christian homes in district Kasur. The compromise deal on attack of Kalar Kahar Christian is one more addition of deals and God knows how many more deals shall be made by so-called Christian leaders?
