Lahore: December 19, 2009. (PCP) "A Report On Christmas Blessings Program 2009 with Faith Prisoners' Families" This is a report on a Christmas Blessings Program 2009 with families of prisoners of faith. Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan (SLMP) organized a Christmas celebrations program with families of 150 prisoners from different districts of province Punjab at Renewal Center Youhanabad Lahore.
Perhaps 400 people attended the program including families of prisoners, released prisoners and other peers. The most joyful aspect of the event was that Sandal and Gulsher also participated Christmas Blessings Program. Sandal and her father were released two days before the program from a blasphemy charge, both Sandal and Gulsher served prison from 10-10-2008 to 14-12-2009. SLMP has been providing Sandal and her family with spiritual, moral and financial support.
Sandal shared her testimony and said, "I am very thankful to each one of SLMP's team members who supported me in prison. I was very hopeless whe I got arrested but Brother Sohail Johnson visited me in prison, he encouraged me to be strong in faith in God. He promised for every support to me. I am thankful to him for providing me with his moral and financial support. I was really downhearted but SLMP team gave me courage, they did not left me alone in suffering that I will not forget for the rest of my life. I am thankful to God for leting me know about this living ministry. I wish all the best and every Christian blessing to Brother Sohail Johnson and other brothers and sisters."
Minister for Human Rights and Minorities' Affair Mr. Kamran Michael was invited as chief guest in the program. SLMP presented an award to the minister acknowledging his services to persecuted Christians of Gojra and Korian.
SLMP's girls of sewing centers performed Christmas plays, some volunteers performed Christmas songs in the program.
Christmas Cake Cutting Ceremony: That was amazing to held Christmas cake cutting ceremony with Sandal, Gulsher, Meena and some other released prisoners.
SLMP presented tokens of love (greeting cards) to Meena from Holland , England and other countries across the world. Meena is a mother of four kids, her husband is serving prison for last four years and presently condemned to death in Central Jail Sahiwal. SLMP is providing Younis, Meena and her children with financial and moral support.
Mrs. Amber Sohail the Project Coordinator of Capacity Building Project for marginalized women / girls presented an annual report of the project. She also delivered a speech on present situation of Christian girls and how they can eradicate their problems. She encouraged people to educate their girls and to support them in getting skills so that they may acquire reasonable jobs and source of income rather than to do labor work in houses, factories or other places where they are not secure.
Mr. Shahzad Kamran, Field Officer, Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan presented annual report of entire projects SLMP has been running in the year 2009. He told about SLMP's pastors' and team members' tireless services to prisoners and their families. He told about SLMP's regular visitation to prisoners and their families throughout the year 2009. He also gave report on SLMP's efforts for education of the children of prisoners of faith, monthly financial support to the families, fines paid for the release of prisoners and all what SLMP did in the year 2009. He also gave report on SLMP's efforts for persecuted Christians of Bahimni Wala Kasur, Taiser Town Karachi, Gojra and Korian that SLMP has worked hard to provide them relief.
Mr. Sohail Johnson, Chief Coordinator, Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan in his speech thanked to all friends and prayer partners of SLMP, he said, "I am thankful from the core of my heart for all our friends, well wishers and prayer partners those who have with us this year. I am thankful to our friends for their moral, prayer and practical support. I am thankful to each one of SLMP team members for their hard work for persecuted Christians, prisoners of faith and their families. I really appreciate our friends those who worked with us voluntarily."
He further said, "I am very happy today, this is really a blissful day for each one of us that our prisoners have been released from unlawful charges. I am thankful to God for releasing Sandal and Gulsher. I would like to give a testimony, Sandal was not released at that time, decision of the case was to announce shortly by the judge, and entire SLMP team decided to add her name in the list of released prisoners who were nominated to share their testimonies in this program. We did this by faith that praise the Lord Sandal is among us in this program, this is greatly believed that our God gives answers of our prayers."
He added, "I would like to urge all my friends here to keep in mind Meena's husband in your prayers, I believe he will also be released from isolation cell and come to share his testimony other day. He needs our prayers and support so we should not forget praying for him."
Mr. Sohail Johnson also thanked the Minister and other friends from human rights organizations who attended the program to encourage prisoners' families.
SLMP team distributed Christmas Gifts (cash) and monthly financial support among the families. At the end of program families were served with Christmas meal.
