No one can damage Sindhi Topi and Ajrak culture: Sindh Khaksar Tehreek

LARKANA: December 6, 2009. (Nazir Siyal reports for PCP) If the sons of soil alive, no one can dare to damage the culture of Sindh and its traditions. Sindhi Topi and Ajrak are the symbol of five thousand old Moen-Jo-Daro culture and a true dipiction of great culture and tradition of Sindh. This was expressed by the Khaksar Thereek Sindh Balochistan Women leader and President Dr. Sabiha Arshad Mughal here at Khaksar Workers gathering here at Al-Mashriqi House on Saturday. She said the Sindhi people will never compromise on their honor and prestige; they will fight for their basic rights she said. Khaksar leader strongly condemned the recent increase of POL prices, that would affect general commoditisers and causing inflation and poverty in country, she termed it an anti-masses policy was introduced by the present government she said. She further said, due to price hike common people were facing hardships to pay their utility bills, so how they will bear more burden of new increasing inflation in country she added. Dr. Sabiha called for early withdrawal of government policies, which could lead the common men to the civil disobedience. She expressed concern over the prevailing political scenario in the country and said the Supreme Court must take historical decision against the NRO beneficiaries and defaulters must be taken to the task in the interest of nation she said. Meanwhile, The members of Arts Council of Pakistan and CSS Coaching Center Larkana organized rallies to celebrate the Topi and Ajrak event here in Larkana. On the occasion, large number people wearing Topis and Ajrak, carrying banners and chanted slognans for Sindhi Culture. The rally marched through various thorough fares and reached at Press Club. The participants of the rallies addressing on the occasion said that all Sindhi people are united on sensitive issue of culture; they said that they would not tolerate any joke with Sindh culture and traditions. They said Sindhi culture and Topi Arak are the identity of Sindhi people, so the criticism against any culture is violation of constitution and human rights, they said the Sindh has five thousand old culture with its diversity has also the hiers of heritage they said. The speakers including Abdul Sattar Khuhawar, Abdul Hadi Bugti, Naseer Khuhawar, Hanif Suhag, Mumtaz Ali Abro, Nazir Ahmed Siyal, Imtiaz Ahmed and others. After the announcement of Topi and Ajrak day on December 06th 2009 (today), the scores of people from all walks of life started the purchase of Topi and Ajrak from shops to celeberate the day, which is resported a shortage of traditional Topi and Ajrak throughout Sindh. In Larkana, large number of people including the Political workers, leaders, NGOs, Students, laborers, villagers, Associations, Unions and all walks of life were continue purchasing a traditional Topi and Ajrak to celeberate the Day on December 6th, while the rates of Ajrak and Topi’s were soaring and shortages in the all over district and tehsils. The shopkeepers of Shahi Bazar, Resham Gali, Pakistan Chowke, Royal Road and other tehsil market told that they had brought for one year season stock which has been sold out within a week and they have ordered for more, which could not have been received yet due to the shortage of Topi and Ajrak
