Muree, Pakistan: November 10, 2009. (PCP) The Muree administration released here cause of fire in St. Denys High School reporting gas leakage and short circuit to be probable cause of fire which destroyed century old missionary institution on November 3, 2009. The official report by the investigation committee of the St. Denys School was presented to the Bishop Alexander John Malik. The report clearly stated that the fire started from inside of the 2nd Floor of the building. There was a gas leakage and a short circuit, as the whole building is made of wood so it completely got burnt. Some students were inquired and they stated that they had complained the administration about the electrical boards on the 1st and 2nd floors which were having loose connections. The students heard a small blast and then a fire ball came in the corridor and started burning the floor. The head of investigations has told that there was no evidence found that the fire started from inside, but they did find 2 completely burnt containers of Petrol and Spirit from inside the record room which was locked from inside. Bishop Malik has not given any official statement, but has suspended 3 officials from the St. Denys School. The reason for termination has not been told. The sources from the Bishop house confirmed that 3 termination letters were signed by the Bishop, but the names are being kept confidential. The PCP sources contacted one eye witness, who revealed “On 3rd November 2009, I being a resident of Murree and parishioner of the Local Church went on the spot (St. Denys’ High School for Girls) after half an hour of the fire. Fire took place at 04:45 PM whereas the Rescue was called at 4:50 PM and they reached at 4:55PM. When I along with my friends reached there. The School Administration was unable to provide any solid reason for this fire. I was surprised that the husband of School Principal Mr. Suleman Barket shouted and pushed us asking us to go away, School workers like peon and watchmen were also doing the same. The important thing is this that all the workers of this boarding high school for girls are Muslims and few years back they threatened the then Principal and her family by burning Quranic pages in front of her resident. It’s also on record that these workers forefathers remained with Administration in legal litigation and kept possession at the some area of the School, even School won case from Supreme Court but the grip of these workers on School and its area are still very firm” The PCP sources talked to local Muslims also who commented “ This School was giving education to our kids from decades but now Church Imam have set it on fire to sell this land to any Muslim billionaire who will construct his resort on this land” it was amazing revelation but created doubts as Church of Pakistan have sold valuable properties in urban areas and clergy involved in such sales fled Pakistan and settle abroad. There are some confirm reports that Muslims employees of St. Denys School after loosing cases in Supreme Court of Pakistan to occupy Christian property raised up the issue with local Muslim clerics and Islamic militants decided to set school on fire.
