Lahore: October 28, 2009. (PCP report) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC welcomed statement of Pakistan Christian Action Forum PCAF to demand repeal of blasphemy law. Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have launched a movement in Pakistan to repeal blasphemy instead of proposed revision by Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minorities who was selected by Pakistan Peoples Party PPP and imposed on Christian. Pakistani Christians have been deprived of their basic right to elect their own parliamentarians under Joint Electorate which was widely demanded by Muslim political groups to bag Christian vote bank and select their representatives in National Assembly of Pakistan and four Provincial Assemblies. Joint Electorate empowered Muslim political groups to select Christian tools in parliament and impose on Christians‘, like Shahbaz Bhatti who claims revision in blasphemy law instead of repeal in controversial law. The Musharraf regime also announced revision in blasphemy law and made procedural amendments to lodge FIR in cases of blasphemy but still violence against Christians erupted on pretext to blasphemy laws. The scores were Christians were arrested under blasphemy law by police without any enquiry and hundreds of homes were destroyed. The Pakistani Christians not trust in any revision or procedural amendment but demand repeal in blasphemy law. The announcement by Federal Minority Minister Shahbaz Bhatti to revise blasphemy law is not trusted by common Christian in Pakistan. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said, “Christian parliamentarians’ must resign after PCAF announcement to repeal blasphemy law in Pakistan. Shahbaz Bhatti have lost confidence of clergy also after press conference of PCAF leader Bishop Lawrence John Saldanaha. PCC Chief said that postponed conferences to repeal blasphemy laws shall be held with new dates in Lahore and Karachi and Pakistan Christian Congress will announce dates of conferences next week. “We appreciate move of PCAF and express unity with Churches in Pakistan” said Nazir Bhatti Nazir Bhatti urged EU and US to respect feelings of 20 million Pakistani Christians who demand repeal in repeal in blasphemy law. “If NATO forces want to end terrorism in South Asia then they must condition military aid to Pakistan with repeal of blasphemy law because its root cause of terrorism in Pakistan” said Nazir Bhatti
