Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari has traditionally greeted Sikh pilgrims, Hindus and other minorities on the occasion of Christmas, Holi and now Baisakh
HYDERABAD: September 17, 2009. (Abbas Kassar) President Hyderabad Hindu Panchayat Engineer Sudhamo Lal Ahuja has demanded abolition of all discriminatory laws of Pakistan including blasphemy law, evidence law etc referring to article 295, 295A,and 295C of Pakistan Penal Code.
In a letter of proposal sent to Senator Raza Rabbani who is head of Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms, Hindu leader has said that as per speech of Founder of Pakistan Quaide-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on 11 August 1948 in constituent assembly of Pakistan had said that " religion must be separated from state ( Article 2 of constitution be amended).Since Pakistan consists of four historical and natural states that are Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and NWFP, so it should be named as United States of Pakistan ( article 1 be amended). He has asked the committee declare Pakistan as multinational country and Sindhi, Punjabi, Pushtu and Balochi be declared national languages with English, Urdu and Siraeki as languages of communication. Ahuja's other proposals include guarantee for equality and equal opportunities for all people to higher and highest executive posts, the word minority should not be attributed to the indigenous people. The Hindus, Christians, Sikhs and Parsis ie all non Muslims who are original inhabitants of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and NWFP are sons/daughters of soil so the word minority attributed to them is discriminatory and injustice to them under constitutional cover. Therefore word minority should be eliminated from Constitution and official documents. He has asked to review law of conversion from one religion to another and strict constitutional measures be taken to prevent murders and criminal offenses under pretext of Karo Kari (family honor). He has proposed abolition of Jirga system that is an illegal parallel courts. Child marriages and forced marriages should be strictly banned, he adds.
