LARKANA: September 4, 2009. (Nazir Siyal reports for PCP) A large number of people of various Muhallas, areas in Larkana held protest demonstration against the problems including laodsheding, poor drainage and sewerage system, increase of petroleum products, police atrocities and other amenities here on Friday.
The enraged people took out rallies, chanted slogans against Union Council Nazims and Municipal Administration for their negligence and blocked Jinnah Bagh Chowk, burnt tires on the occasion.
The people from all walks of life and social groups led by their Forums took out procession against the concerned authorities for non provision of basic facilities to their Muhallas and areas.
On the occasion, the residents of Allah Abad Golimar, Lahori Muhalla, Bhurgari Colony, Ali Gohar Abad, Riali Bagh and others demanded for cleanliness and proper drainage dewatering in the different Muhallas, provision of basic amenities to the residence.
Riali Bagh residents also observed token hunger strike for illegal Bus Stand at their Muhalla, they demanded for immediate removal of private Bus Stand and cleanliness in the area.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here that all the Muhallas and Union Councils Nazims had neglected by all the representatives, there is no proper dewatering and sewerage system, as a result the streets and roads were flooded with sewerage water and the residents of Muhalla, students and men, women were facing hardships.
UC Nazims were collecting Rs. 2 lac per month in their account from the Sindh Government budget and there is no use of the budget in the cleanliness of UCs.
The people of Union Councils have continued the protest against Municipal Administration for the cleanliness but they refused proper cleanliness as thy told there is no staff for the removal of garbage and drainage or cleanliness.
The protesters including Akber Mirani, Piral Dayo, Nazir Soomro, M Ali Abbasi, Riaz Kalhoro, Bilawal Chandio, Shaukat Ali, Mohammed Shahban Mirani and others continued their protest against their atrocities.
