WASHINGTON DC: Aug 19th, 2009. (PCP) Baloch Society of North America organized a gathering to de-celebrate Pakistan Independence day. Hakim Saeed, Founder and Executive Director of Pen foundation, presided the meeting, joined by several American and Pashtun friends. Hakim Baloch, a prominent Baloch peace activist and a former teacher in Balochistan, in his speech, urged the Baloch Diaspora groups to shun their differences and unite on a single platform for the greater interest of Balochistan. He emphasized the role of education as a tool for self-enrichment and
empowerment.
Ms. Hanne Bursch, an American human right activist and a worker of Pen Foundation International, who is working on several projects on women, urged the importance of education and accommodation of Baloch women in all walks of life. She announced opening of a center in Quetta to promote Baloch women participation to bring them into the mainstream.
Nasser Ibrahim, a Pashtun human right activist and a strong supporter of Baloch-Pashtun rights, in his speech explained the plights of Pashtun people in Pakistan and how Pakistan is using the war on terror as a cash-in business over the blood of Pashtun people. He said, "hundreds of thousands of Pashtun has been evicted from their home in Swat valley because of Pakistani military's carpet bombing and yet none of the Taliban leader has been killed by Pakistan's military operation but only the Pashtun civilian have died. He said American drone has been more effective and successful in eliminating the Taliban’s leaders than the Pakistani army.“
Welcoming the Call of De Jure Ruler of Balochistan HH khan of Kalat to de-celebrate Pakistan’s independence day as a black day and in solidarity with worldwide Baloch freedom movement for an Independent free and united Balochistan, Dr. Wahid Baloch, President of Baloch Society of North America
(BSO-NA), condemned the Pakistani and Iranian state terrorism against the secular Baloch people in Pakistani and Iranian occupied Balochistan. He expressed deep concerns and regret over the silence of US government, UN, and other human right organizations over the ongoing genocide of Baloch nation. He said, "the United Nation and world community must not close their eyes over the ongoing Pakistan and Iranian crimes and gross human right violations against Baloch people in occupied Balochistan." He asked the UN and world community to immediately intervene in Balochistan to prevent further bloodshed and save lives of innocent Baloch people, including women and children, whose lives are in great danger under the Pakistani and
Iranian occupation."
Thousand Baloch have been hanged in public by Iranian revolutionary guards and many hundreds have been killed by Pakistani Islamic Jihadi army. Several hundred are still missing and more than 80,000 Baloch have been evicted from their homes by Pakistani army and are living in harsh conditions as refuges in their own homeland without any food, water and medicine. "It is time for the world community and human rights organizations to come forward and rescue the oppressed Baloch people of Balochistan." he said.
