Karachi: August 3, 2009. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that it is not Pakistan dreamed by founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah but Pakistan of militants where Christians have no guarantee of security of life and property. The burning alive of peaceful Christian women and children in presence of law enforcement agencies is worst shape of militancy in 21st century which is not witnessed before in world but it happened in Islamic Republic of Pakistan in city of Gojra in Punjab on August 1, 2009. The Muslim extremists burnt alive 7 Christians and used chemicals to set homes on fire. “The incidents of killing of Christians, rape of Christian women, enforced conversion and allegations of blasphemy always rise whenever Pakistan Peoples Party PPP or Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz PML(N) comes in power in Pakistan because both of these political parties played a role to legislate blasphemy laws which is root cause of Islamic militancy” said Nazir Bhatti The blasphemy law was imposed by military ruler Zia-ul-Haq by an ordinance but capital punishment on Section 295 B and C PPC was endorsed during Nawaz Sharif government which governs province of Punjab now where Christians are second biggest population and living in villages. The Pakistan Peoples Party PPP governments nationalized Christian schools, colleges, hospitals and martyred Christians who raised voice against discriminatory laws in Pakistan. “The burning of Christian homes in village Bahamin Wala Kasur, Village Korian and in Gojra city in one month on allegations of blasphemy by Muslim extremists have created fear and feeling of insecurity in Pakistan” added Nazir Bhatti Nazir Bhatti said that recent barbaric act of burning Christian women and children in Gojra is failure of Punjab and federal governments and Christian selected by PPP or PML(N) in National Assembly or Provincial Assemblies also stand responsible for incident of attacks on Christians and we demand their resignations. “We do not want Federal Minority Minister, Provincial Minority Minister and Christian parliamentarians to be rubber stamps or tools of Muslim political groups. It is act of shame that Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minorities is ordered by President House like a peon and Michael Kamran, Punjab Minority Minister sits in Chief Minister House to receive instructions for Christian safety” said Nazir Bhatti The Christian are demanding in Pakistan for immediate resignation of Shahbaz Bhatti and Michael Kamran before August 11, 2009, and invite them to join “Black Day” on August 11, 2009. The PPP announced August 11, 2009, as Minority Day in wake of Independence Day celebration in Pakistan but Christians in Pakistan have now decided to observe “Black Day” on same date throughout Pakistan. Nazir S Bhatti also condemned drama resignation by Michael Kamran by handing over his resignation to Catholic Bishop accepting responsibility of failure to protect Christians. Nazir Bhatti said “Catholic Bishop not selected Michael Kamran as MPA or Minister in Punjab but Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Group and he shall submit his resignation to Chief Minister of Punjab and not involve clergy in his failure”
