Rangers in Gora: Christian demand arrest of culprits before funeral of 9 martyrs

Gojra: August 2, 2009. (PCP) Christian mourners are grieving on bodies of nine martyrs and denied to perform funeral until killers are arrested. The Rangers are patrolling the city streets and taken position to prevent any clash because situation is very tense in Gojra. The Muslims are demanding arrests of three Christians accused of blasphemy while Christians are holding their demand. On August 1, 2009, Muslim protestors and masked men discriminatory opened fire on Christians and burnt alive seven Christian women and children. The Muslims were protesting to arrest Imran Masih, Talib Masih and others accused in defiling pages of Holy Quran on July 25, 2009, in village Korian which Muslims burnt with chemicals on night of July 30, 2009. It was second attack on Christian life and property within two days. Muslims have also bunt down 100 homes of Christians in village Bahmin Wala district Kasur on July 1, 2009. It is feared that if necessary measures are not adopted for security in Pakistan then attacks can spread throughout Pakistan. Nazir S Bhatti President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have demanded resignation of Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minorities selected by Pakistan Peoples Party PPP which governing Pakistan and Kamran Michael, Minister for Minorities in Punjab government when Punjab is governed by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz group. “Christians selected by PPP and PML(N) in national assembly are rubber stamp and tools of Muslims political groups which have been failed to protect Christians in Pakistan” said Nazir Bhatti The Christians sitting in parliament are selected by Muslim political groups not elected by votes so they are powerless and law enforcement agencies in Pakistan not follow any order given by them. ‘The attacks on Christians are failure of federal government as well as Punjab provincial government demands Christians not to sit on treasury benches if they have any respect for Christian martyrs” added Nazir Bhatti Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that “Black Day” shall be observed on August 11, 2009, to lodge our protests on killing of Christians by Muslims militants. Nazir Bhatti demanded to repeal blasphemy law and arrests of culprits before August 11, 2009. The Christian shall gather before Press Clubs of Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Karachi and other cities for peaceful protest for demands and resignation of Shahbaz Bhatti, Kamran Michael and all selected Christian members in National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies on August 11, 2009.
