HYDERABAD: August 1, 2009. (Abbas Kassar report for PCP) Anger and fear spread all over Pakistan among Christians when news of burning Christian women and children in Gojra City here today on August 1, 2009.
This horrified incident occurred next day after burning of a Christian village Korian, only seven miles from Gojra city.
Bishop T Nasir expressed grief on killing of Christian and said “ how long we will keep on receiving dead bodies and attacks on our brothers in Pakistan”
Bishop Ijaz Enayat appealed for prayers and urged to ’Stop Violence Against Pakistani Christians”
While Diocese of Hyderabad Church of Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack of extremists and terrorists on Christian in Gojra City in which 9 persons including 4 women were killed and as many as 50 homes were burnt to ashes and 100 homes looted. The Christian leader Bishop Rafiq Masih of Diocese Hyderabad Church of Pakistan has condemned the attack on Christian village and burning of more than 50 Christian homes there by fanatic Muslims who also killed 9 Christians including 4 women. He said dozens were injured in attack and as many as 100 homes looted. Bishop said that the incidents of hate and bias have now been common in Pakistan. He said this is 4th attack on Christians in past one month. He said the peaceful Christians are being made target to religious fanaticism. He said that even animals of Christian in the village were burnt down. He asked government to end the acts of sectarianism, terrorism and extremism and to stop division after division in the society so that peaceful atmosphere and behaviour of religious tolerance could take place which was the only way to strengthen Pakistan. He has made appeal to president, prime minister and other higher authorities to take steps to provide protection to Christian community and end their sense of deprivation. He asked for arrest and punishment of culprits and compensation to affected people of the loss they had suffered. He asked for resettlement of affected Christians.

Tabassum Iqbal Coordinator of Overseas Pakistani Christians Network also condemned attack on Christians in Gojra and shared his grief with families of martyred Christians.
Xanvier William, Coordinator of Pakistan Christian Congress Islamabad appealed Christian to stay calm and pray for families of Gojra who have lost their members in barbaric attack.
PMM, PCWO and many other organizations have also condemned attacked and have demanded government to arrest killers immediately.
